Fifty of the 112 Joseph Colony houses, which were set on fire last week, were repaired and handed over to the families on Friday, claimed Communication and Works officials.

Construction on the 121 affected units – 112 houses, seven shops and two churches – was started the day after the incident. The Lahore Development Authority and Communication and Works had awarded the contracts to repair the affected structures.

C&W's Sabir Khan Saddozai told The Express Tribune that the two churches would be completed "soon". Saddozai said that with work going on round the clock, the rest of the houses would also be handed over to the families in a few days. District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal also visited the colony along with American consulate officials and was briefed about the pace of work.
