China warns Japan against leading toward confrontation

China has warned Japan against leading the Asia-Pacific down the path to confrontation. Chinese Ambassador to the US, Cui Tiankai, was responding to a question after speaking on China's foreign policy and current China-US relations at Johns Hopkins University in Washington. Cui stressed China stood for building "a stable and friendly relationship" with Japan.

He expressed deep concerns about what he called "some disturbing tendencies" in Japan's policies and its outlook on history.

"Some Japanese politicians believe that Japan lost World War Two only due to the atomic bombs dropped by the United States. As a result, they think so long as they don't antagonize Americans, everything will be OK for them. They don't have to take care of the concerns of other countries. I think this is very wrong and dangerous. Japan was defeated in World War Two not by advanced weapons, but by the strong will and determination of peoples in Asia and the world as a whole. It would be problematic if Japan sticks to this wrong view of history. It involves the post-war international order and the interests of people in the Asia-Pacific region, including the Japanese. I hope Japanese politicians would make the right choice." Cui said.

I love the Chinese justifying with childish posits like - Some Japanese politicians believe that Japan lost World War Two only due to the atomic bombs dropped by the United States. As a result, they think so long as they don't antagonize Americans, everything will be OK for them. !

How naive and juvenile can they be than that?!

Someone has got to lead those who are being bullied by China.

So, why not Japan?

China is sure feeling the heat and so is getting cold feet!

China warns US, Japan, Australia not to gang up in sea disputes

Reuters Oct 7, 2013,

SHANGHAI: China said on Monday the United States, Australia and Japan should not use their alliance as an excuse to intervene in territorial disputes in the East China Sea and South China Sea, and urged them to refrain from inflaming regional tensions.

On Friday, Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida and US Secretary of State John Kerry raised the maritime disputes during a trilateral strategic dialogue in Bali, Indonesia.

Relations between China and Japan, the world's second- and third-largest economies, have been troubled in recent years by a row over tiny, uninhabited islands in the East China Sea known as the Senkaku in Japan and the Diaoyu in China.

In the South China Sea, Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia, Brunei and China are involved in long-standing sovereignty disputes over the potentially oil- and gas-rich island chain.

A joint statement from the US-Japan-Australia meeting opposed "coercive or unilateral actions" that could change the status quo in the East China Sea and called on claimants to maritime disputes in the South China Sea to refrain from destabilising actions, according to the State Department website.

"The United States, Japan and Australia are allies but this should not become an excuse to interfere in territorial disputes, otherwise it will only make the problems more complicated and harm the interests of all parties," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said on Monday.

"We urge the relevant countries to respect facts, distinguish right from wrong, be cautious, and stop all words and deeds that are not beneficial to the proper handling of the issue and undermine regional stability," she said in comments on the ministry website.

The US-Japan-Australia meeting took place on the sidelines of an annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting on the Indonesian island of Bali.

Separately, another Chinese foreign ministry spokesman, Qin Gang, voiced China's opposition to Kishida's raising of maritime security at an informal breakfast meeting with foreign ministers, saying that it has long been considered inappropriate to discuss issues of political security or sensitive and controversial topics at APEC.

"There has not been a problem with freedom and security of navigation in this region for a long time," Qin said in another statement released late on Sunday.

"Playing up so-called maritime security issue goes against real efforts for the freedom and security of navigation."

Lets get to the genesis of the disputes.

It is China who started her hegemonic and imperialist pursuit with a bogus Nine Dash map which has no historical proof.

And not satisfied China went on a bullying rampage and starting occupying islands and shoals that are not her by a long chalk.

Obviously, the other nations justifiably retaliated, but then they were not as strong as the Peaceful Rising and Stealthily Arming itself China.

Thus, they joined shoulders and the US, which too has strategic interest in the area, gave a helping hand.

Instead of meaningless hollow sabre rattling, China should beahvae like a man and quit acting as the neighbourhood bully and all will be well.

If not, China will be 'contained' and even squeezed.
