US expects India to play key role in sanctions against Iran

Washington, Apr 3 (PTI) Sending a "strong signal" to countries engaged in business dealings with Iran that they may face ramifications, the US has asked India and other emerging powers to play a key role in galvanising the global community for imposing sanctions against Tehran over its nuclear issue.

"We are expecting everyone, particularly, emerging powers to play a significant role in this (issue)," Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs, P J Crowley, told reporters, when asked about the latest Indian move to resume talks with Iran for a multi-billion dollar gas pipeline project.

His comments came a day after Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Robert Blake warned all countries against engaging in transactions with Iran.

Pakistan and Iran have already inked an agreement on the gas pipeline project two weeks ago.

"We have a broad-based dialogue with both India and Pakistan.

Yeah and what can we expect from the US? It conveniently forgets that pakistan has linked a deal and that while its still there. I recently read a report I forget to recollect where that the max number of companies doing business either direct or front companies are from the US. The US needs to set its own house in order. Its very conveniently barring other countries while it still does good business in iran.

yousuf as you have rigihtly pointed out US of A is the true Dr jakyl & Hyde!!!!US wants indian intevention in Iranian affairs ,but turns a blind eye to pak sponsored terror in India.US arming pakistan to the teeth and forcing India to counter!!!what can one call these double ,triple ,,,,n-tple standards while dealing matters concerning india!!!Iran had helped support India in the past and had been a close freind... i think we should continue our friendship with Iran to safegaurd our own interests!!!Eventhough we are cuckooing how freindly US is with India ,many indian orgs are under US entity list ,tech denial is still prevailing.

USA hopes India do the followings :

1. stop supplying weapons such as S300 to Iran.

2.Stop India's construction of nuke-reaction in Iran

3.Stop importing oil from Iran.

4 .Stop billion-dollar investment in Iran.

India supplying weapons to Iran? any link mate for such claims? Esp S300?
