yes, attacks at tibet and india were part of chinese defensive policy, weren't they??
I think you need to upgrade from being just an economic bloc into a military block. Only that will help build a strong SEA region. A lot of global trade passes through SEA, including hefty amounts from our country. If PLAN has to be kept within limits of its own region, SEA will have to be strong (and we will need to get rid of this government). There are a lot of tensions between Thailand and Cambodia for silly reasons that are common to both. ASEAN should resolve to close this case ASAP.
Think about a military alliance with the following combination that ASEAN could be:
- Singapore's and Malaysia's economic might with state-of-the-art military equipment.
- Vietnam's battle-hardened experience and mastery over unconventional warfare.
- Indonesia's massive manpower resources and rising profile in SEA region.
- Burmese and Laotian emergence into a strong, decisive and participating nation.
- Thailand's strategic location and modern equipment with Philippines' key location.
- Brunei's massive oil wealth.
ASEAN would be the next power bloc in the region; if not to influence and dominate Asia, at least to defend itself together like EU and NATO.
You seem to make some points, rather than arguing I would like to know about certain things
1) Chinese talk about peacefull rise, but why have they placed an army along Tibet after so many years, when therewasn't any forward movement? What reason was it done for ?
2) Why hasn't the Chinese shown any interest in South China sea before, if it was their territorial waters, why didn't they place a naval contingent so far?
3) This one has bugged me for a longtime, after 1962 war and for such a long time, China never seemed to think about Arunachal Pradesh etc, why or from where has this sudden interest arisen?
Debate, do not troll or LOL.
I wish our government did not have the current traitors and had half the guts of what Viet Cong had in your war.
