Yakovlev-130 has two 25 kN engines, and recently, HAL made one such engine. Crossposting from relevant thread:
If we have similar indigenous engines, can't we make similar planes? Reason I am asking is, in dual front war, we need numbers. Numbers can be achieved with anything that flies and has ability to carry several warheads/missiles.
We can continue to work on our present programs including Tejas and AMCA, but on sidelines, if we have engines, can we make similar planes and use them to pound Air to ground missiles, once our frontline jets have got area under control?
In case we decide to make them, do we have similar designs ?
I understand AF may not buy them, but let's suppose we start building them as trainers, can they be used in the event of war? How is the export market?
