World Hindi Day celebrated in Kuwait

Dubai, Jan 13 (PTI) The Indian Embassy in Kuwait organised a function to celebrate World Hindi Day, as part of its efforts to promote the language and its usage.

The Indian community residing in Kuwait gathered to encourage students from 14 Indian schools who participated in a debate on ''Bhasha Ka Vikas Desh Ka Vikas'' (Development of Language is Equal to Nation''s Development), a statement from the Indian Embassy in Kuwait, said.

Schoolchildren also presented a cultural event on the occasion.

Students from Indian Learners Own Academy, Indian Public School, Indian Educational School, Carmel School, Indian Public School, Gulf Indian School, among others, participated in the event.

Ambassador of India to Kuwait Ajai Malhotra gave away awards to the winners.

A special message from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was also read out on the occasion.
