Gujarat's capital with 54% green cover is probably the greenest of Indian cities.

With 54% green cover, Gandhinagar India's tree capital

    I have been there.

It is better than even Cantonments!

    Very neat.

    Great roads.

    Wonderful houses.

    And trees!

And to believe it that all this wonderful stuff has been done by the meek Gujaratis, who have no time to lift their nose from their account books!

They have proved that if you want to succeed and have the will, you CAN succeed.

    Three Cheers to the Gujaratis!

I've been to Gandhinagar as well. A sparse city with big roads and well planned constructions. Planned city does make living better but may lack the soul that historical cities have.

Yup, because it's a planned city. You won't find any small galiya here.Trees are always there beside the main roads. You won't find much of complex buildings here because it has been already devided in residencial area and commercial areas.Every sector has 1 hall, atleast 2-3 gardens, 1 shopping area, govt residential area and private residential area.Plus 1 sector is dedicated for big market, 1 for library, town hall, 1 for Vidhansabha and other govt offices, 1 for banks, etc with all above features included.... Most of people live here are well educated.

The city defines peace, silence, privacy. That's why it's becoming an educational hub.

Ahmedabad is only 25kms away with 3 different 6 lanes roads connectivity. So if you want to live, live in gandhinagar (as your family can be well set here and your kids can be educated in good schools) and do updown to a'bad for work.

I still didn't know such places, because I never needed liquor otherwise I would love to help you.

Remember, city has Akshardham mandir plus 2 other swaminarayan temples, so swaminarayan sampraday is well spreaded here. Most of followers never eat onions and garlic,so liquor is very far from talk. ;)

I hope Gujarat decides to extend the Sabharmati riverfromt project up till Gandhinagar. It will make the city even more beautiful.

I live very near to gandhinagar. It is fun to drive on its wide roads. Furthermore in summer whenever we go to gandhi nagar they have planted gulmohar trees on both side of the road. it looks really awesome!

Wow! This is a remarkable achievement. Compare it to Bangalore, the concrete jungle.
