Will crackdown on illegal immigrants in Assam: PM Modi

GUWAHATI: PM Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed a gathering of BJP workers here and praised them for their efforts in the northeast, adding that development has been the only mantra of BJP.

Addressing the issue of safety in Assam, PM Modi said, "I am aware of the problems of Assam and there will be no compromise on safety."

Modi also sought people's consent for an India-Bangladesh land swap deal which he said will benefit Assam.

The Prime Minister said he would use the deal to stop illegal infiltration into Assam from Bangladesh.

"I know the sentiments of the people of Assam. I assure you that I am going to use the proposed land swap deal for the benefit of Assam."

"It may seem a loss for Assam but I will make such arrangements that it benefits Assam in the long run," he said.

It is high time cracking down on illegals is done all over the country including the new menace of the Rohingyas who have taken shelter in Hyderabad and are said to be financing the jihadis.

The Jamaait Bangladesh is being financed by the Rohingyas, who are in turn financing the terrorist in India as in the Burdwan blast.

BJP is playing double game here. It will keep the fire burning and will do absolutely nothing.

It's not easy to identify and repatriate the illegal immigrants in India. Very difficult job.

The effort has to be comprehensive and conducted in every state or at least friendly to NDA. Not to mention a dedicated workforce will be required. I have said it before, it may sound controversial to many think tanks but inter state movement of people has to be checked starting with permits to work.

As didi said earlier that there is no Bangladeshi in West Bengal, same applies to Assam too. Before any crackdown, local administration will legalise the illegals.

Mr. Prime Minister Modi, you are doing everything right. Muslim migration to Assam and Bengal is a major problem.

How come UPA could not see the solution that way? What was in their mind that they did not wish to do?

Turn your attention to unrestricted Muslim immigration to West Bengal. Get rid of Mamata, sooner than later.

These Bangladesh immigrants, all of them illegal are in great numbers in every part of India, including Delhi. I am told there are 2 million of them in Delhi alone.

@Harisud

Congress survived for decades by divide and rule and vote bank politics.

Alarm rings on infiltration

- Over 1000 cases registered last year, says Rijiju

Cases of infiltration along the India-Bangladesh border have seen an increase in the last three years.

According to a written reply by Union minister of state for home affairs Kiren Rijiju in the Rajya Sabha today, there were 499 cases of cross-border infiltration in 2011 in the five states of Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram.

The corresponding figures for 2012 and 2013 were 707 and 1,161, respectively, Rijiju said (see chart).

At the same time, the Union minister stated that 5,290 alleged infiltrators were nabbed from 2011 to 2013, while another 59 infiltrators were killed during the same period.

While Bengal accounted for the bulk of the numbers of alleged infiltrators who were either arrested or killed, Mizoram had the least.

The killing of infiltrators took place only in the Bengal and Tripura sectors of the international border, while no such cases were reported in the other three states.

The Indian side of the border passes through Bengal (2,216.7km), Assam (263km), Meghalaya (443km), Tripura (856km) and Mizoram (318km).

The entire stretch comprises plains, riverine belts, hills and jungles. The area is heavily populated and is cultivated right up to the border.

Apart from the cross-border infiltration, Rijiju also provided figures for cases that took place in 2011, 2012 and 2013 along the India-Pakistan, India-China, India-Myanmar, India-Nepal, and India-Bhutan borders.

The northeastern states of Assam, Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Manipur also share international borders with Bhutan, Myanmar, and China.

"The number of infiltrators killed during cross-border infiltration in 2011, 2012 and 2013 are 68, 56 and 78 respectively. No compensation was paid to the families of such infiltrators. However, families of security personnel killed while combating cross-border infiltration are paid compensation as entitled by their respective service rules," Rijiju said.
Alarm rings on infiltration
It is time to reorganise the border and make it continuous

There should be 'floating BOPs' on the rivers, even though they can become problematic when the river changes course.

Border villages should be heavily surveilled and it should be ensured that if there is an increase in the population, the Panchayat explains the cause or face arrest. Influx in the border villages can be from relatives from the hinterland (acceptable) or from infiltrators and illegals (not acceptable).

However, these measures will raise a jackal wail from the Human Rights eagles and the drawing room chatteratti.

Indian Society as a whole, as a nation, now need to go little backward to have a successful future

times has come when India, as a nation has to move little backward, to go forward. you may have little low economic growth rate for the coming few years, but the security/sovereignty is something which can't be sacrificed for any reason.....

we may live with even 2%-3% growth rate by the next few years, but the nation has to be ready for every type of sacrifice/security requirements. we need to be openly clear with our "national issues", which don't change with any political party. whether BJP, Congress or any other political party, national issues dont change for any reason, which may require sacrifice, and you always need to be ready for that.....

i would advocate to double the CRPF/security personnel due to security crisis at present. even if there may be few communal violence, security agencies may need to fuel it, just to see how much damage these people may make. for example, if few of the non-social elements think that they may create problems, then just kill few of them to see, how the rest of them respond..... a proper surgery/operation of top to bottom of this country is required, proper security gotto be established, laws enforcement is required now....

you now need to go little backward to go forward, more unity as a nation is required to have proper preparation to build a successful nation in future :india:

And the sad thing is, instead of kicking them out, congress gives them TVs and satellite dish etc. to make them a vote bank. Visit the harbour area of mumbai if you have a chance. All huts, about 6ft x 6ft, bangladeshis living in them. But everyone of them has TV and satellite dish.
