Why was it that a rabid islamist like Zia ul-Haq never tried any games in Kashmir during his decade rule? How were his relations with India in general?
Zia's relevance in paki history would be because of pursuing of nuclear program started by Bhutto.
Imagine a non-nuclear pakiand.
1) Russians would not have stopped at Afghanistan.
2) india would not have stopped from taking back its territories.
3) with somewhat of a lesser probability a non-nuclear Pakistan would have remained secular like in pre-Zia times.
