Are you sure? The CCP could place a cordon around the area or place the area under quarantine and prevent anyone from entering or leaving. The PLA could take any food the Uighurs might have hoarded or hidden. Seal off the area very tightly and let the Uighurs die. This is what Joe Stalin did in Ukraine during the Holodomor 1932-33. They could wipe out the Uighurs in a little over a year.

Holodomor
Holdomor or "Hunger-extermination" (actually moryty holodom) won't work.

UN will come into play and so will international Aid Agencies will descend in the event they find or imagine the Chinese Govt effort is not adequately addressing the issue. If the Chinese Govt prevents them from operating, it will give the game away. There will be an international outcry and even sanctions. The Islamic Middle East will choke the oil supply and the Islam fundamentalists across the borders will find ways to smuggle arms, food and terrorists.

The Tibetans will be similarly aided to revolt.

Things will not be the same for China again.

Hmm, seems reasonable, Ray. I guess 2015 is not the same as 1932.

china is not dumb, why would they force famine when all they need to do is has more ppl migrate to the region, right now han+other chinese miniority in the region account 40%+, in a decade or two, it won't matter as more mainland chinese will be live there than uighur.
look at how israel is doing, compare its region now vs 60s, they basically do the same.
push further back thats how european migrate to america, its the same just different period of time.

The only way you can get away with forced famine is when you're Britain, it's 1944, and the rest of the world is focused on Hitler.

Chinese will keep flooding Han Chinese to Xinjiang for demographic modification and won't show them in the census.

Isn't that a good thing? At least two countries in the region (China and myanmar) will remain immune to islamisation!

Over 800 Uygur Muslims tried to sneak out of China for Jihad training in 2014

BEIJING: Over 800 Uygur Muslims from China's volatile Xinjiang province have been stopped from illegally crossing through Vietnam to get jihadi training abroad in the last one year, a media report here said. "Uygurs were leaving China due to government oppression, not because they wanted to join terrorists abroad," said Dilxat Rexit, spokesman for the World Uygur Congress. More than 800 people have been stopped trying to illegally cross from China into Vietnam in just one year, with the majority attempting to get to jihad training camps, Hong Kong based South China Morning Post reported. Two Uygur stowaways from Xinjiang region were shot and killed yesterday by police in the country's southern Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, near the Vietnam border. Police said most of the cases were spurred on by the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) an Al- Qaeda backed organisation fighting the independence of Xinjiang which was restive for the past few years over unrest between Uygurs and Hans. Most of those caught trying to sneak out of the country had watched underground terror videos or had even engaged in "terrorist" activities, killing people before leaving the country, state-run Xinhua news agency reported. Officials reports recently said the Uygurs headed to Syria, Iraq and Pakistan for training. "The security apparatus has been on high alert since the attacks on Tiananmen Square and in Kunming last year," said Li Wei, director of the anti-terrorism research centre at the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations. "Chinese citizens are being lured by extremists just like those from the West," he was quoted as saying by the Post.
