In the world stage for long it has been Gandhi that has been associated with anthing to do with india in the minds of non-indians , although his ideals are very important in modern era the younger genera need a new somebody to represent the changing face of india ,
people can say A.R Rehman or A.P.J.Abdul Kalam or Sachin Tendulkar , whom do you think is the new FACE to symbolize india and appeal to the world community

I think it can be the following.
    1) Pranab Mukharjee // Done very good job as foreign minister
    2) P Chidambaram // Excellent finance and home minister but at the same time very good speaker, ever heard his interview clear communication.
    3) APJ Abdul Kalam // Need I say anything about him
I am not counting on Sachin and A. Raheman since at world stage people who can communicate effectively matters most.

Ratan Tata would be better than Modi if it is about understanding business. And that ever young man is the symbol of Indian presence (or I should say exploration) in global economic arena. Not to forget his association with the word Indian "TATA"...not to mention credibility of it among Indian population.

no single person can represent any country even though they represent it. It doesn't count. All that counts is its common people and their behavior and the way they live and the government how much they care about their citizens. We all are involved in petty regional politics and selfish goals thats the reality and dumb ass govt should wake up.

+1 for Narendra Modi. Controversy or not, he's the ideal person for an emerging economy.

i have never been a personality worshiper, my two out standing performers have been:

1 the unknown indian - who has slogged hard to get india where it stands today
2 the corporate india - one of the finest in the world, which have the ability to take over and the beat the very best.

Very well put TR. I don't think a single person can make a country or represent one. The nations people make the nation. A collective effort be it political, corporate, individual will make an impression in the world.
