There is no doubt that UX (user experience) of Macs is untouched by any Windows laptops out there.

I use 2 virtual machines - one for Windows and one for Ubuntu and it as if I can run everything independent of platform.

The better way to get it at low rate is, buy it from US. If some one you know visiting US, ask them to bring an apple Mac for you. Its almost 40% less than in India.

A new gadget Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga that begins shipping on Oct. 26. Lenovo Shows Off Convertible Ultrabooks | News & Opinion | PCMag.com

IdeaPad Yoga 13, a convertible Windows 8 ultrabook that uses a "multi-mode" hinge to open up into a laptop, and then open further, with the screen moving 360 degrees to become a tablet-style device. The 13.6-inch screen offers 10 points of touch tracking on a 1,600-by-900 resolution IPS display.
The IdeaPad Yoga 13 will be available with either Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, paired with 8GB of RAM, and up to a 256GB solid-state drive. The laptop is equipped with USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, a 3-in-1 card reader, and a full-size HDMI output port. Measuring 17 millimeters thick and weighing a mere 3.6 pounds, it meets ultrabook specs, including seven-hour battery life.

Since you don't need a gaming laptop you don't need a very powerful GPU. The current GPUs that come with laptops are more than enough to run 1080p videos. If you are looking for 3D capability then you may need an expensive laptop.

For whatever the purpose never ever reduce standards of monitor resolution if you are used to looking at high resolution videos. Make sure a 900p or a 1080p screen is available for the laptop, or else you will regret it like my friends did. I have a 2 year old XPS 15 with a 1080p full HD LED screen. If you want 3D then, obviously the screen should be compatible too and the video is best at 1080p.

I suppose Asus have the best laptops right now. They have 15.6" and 18.3" full HD monitors without 3D called Multimedia laptops and 17.3" with 3D and are Gaming laptops. Check out both on their website.
ASUS - Notebooks

Dell does not have the cheaper large screen monitors outside of Alienware in India. M-17X comes with very similar specs as the Asus G75VW, but it is more expensive. These are 3D options only. Don't go for it if you don't want 3D.

I have zeroed in on Lenovo G series. Intel i5 3rd gen, 4gb ram, 15.6" screen and around 35k. Any thoughts on it ?
It is good as long as you pick one with a HD display.

^^ It is 720p, my present laptop is also 720p. I don't want 3-D. 1080p laptops are ultra-expensive.

My Laptop has 1080p LED Display, i5, 4GB RAM and BR Disc Player and it cost me 60k like 2 1/2 years ago so it should be within your self constrained budget :dude:
