If we are to talk about a united India, then we will have to revisit the politics of the time a few decades before 1947. It wad have been possible if the two nation theory had not come around'. Jinnah had stayed in Congress and thought of a united India. Basically if there was no Communalization before 1947.

Well what would have happed later is anybody's guess. be could have lived happily ever after Or someone else would have risen to create problems.

Now considering of geopolitics of today and taking a positive side of a united secular India hs modern India is, a lot would have gone for it.
One is we would have been a much larger country. Yes with an even bigger population but considering how modern India is moving, and applying the same to a "United India" we would be going pretty strong. we would not have fought wars on our western borders. We would not have been facing a dangerous nuclear neighbor. The "rabid" Islamgctin that took place under Zia under Saudi Influence would not have happened and maybe we would have had a better world..

strategically We would have been even better off. Direct Access to CAR. China not having any foot soldiers for free against India. We might have been successful in creating a large union of economies in the region. probably the largest free trade zone.

Obviously any such scenario hinges on a lot of if's & buts and idealistic scenarios.

Good for generating a disussion on a forum. Nothing more, We have to live for today & worry about what danger's present & future Our country faces.

My point is that when we were once upon a time as "one", that was not disaster at Mega scale.

India faced maximum land threats and destruction in history through her western frontiers. Every conceivable power that on earth that used land to advance came through this frontier and all of them wished the Land across Sindh (Hindustan)....

No doubt, Pakistan itself has become a threat to India but at least a "Direct Land" threat to India from Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Iraq and the entire Middle East has been buffered.

Do not only look at today's situation. History Changes. Times change and circumstances change. You will agree that that all those regions specially the historic Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Iran have no direct access to India and that is why use Pakistan as proxy.

It is better to deal with the Saud proxy rather than engage with SA directly in confrontation. It is better to crush Pakistan rather than engage in a direct war with China.

Pakistan is a staging point and Indians will get better hints of the threats. Secondly, Pakistan will have to undergo the consequences of those threat before India. Radicalisation of Society, Chinese influence on economy and governance, Shia radicalisations, radicalisation and revolts of the Tribal are all external influences of the present masters of Pakistan. Before Pakistani terrorists enter India they screw Pakistan first. Before Chinese nuclear weapons are launched those remain on Pakistani soil and threaten that society, government and establishment, if nothing of accidents and nuclear disasters.

The Larger picture is that Pakistan in it present form may not be good for India but a fragmented and separated Pakistan or its fragments would remain as beneficial buffer for mainland India.

Let them kill each others.

personally i think that the idea of a "United undivided India" is not at all possible in the current global scenerio!btw i am actually happy that the partition took place(although i strictly condemn all those heinous crimes that happened during the partition).its time for us to bury our past and move on to the future!the pakistanis and the bangladeshis got what they wanted and thanks to them today India is a better place to live in!:cool2:

Think about it. The Muslims that wanted to stay in India stayed, and those that didn't moved to Pak. If you forced them all to stay, you would have had 60 years of insurgency with radicals having free reign of the country. It is better to have an LOC and keep them out or 26/11 would be a daily occurrence.
