Not trolling but there used to be a time when Ragi was not considered to be a good food for brain, I m guessing southies would know about that.. Any idea anyone ?

No idea... what I do know is, ragi is considered "villager's food". Generally the labour class in Karnataka and villagers doing lot of manual labour have dozens of lumps of ragi for lunch... it is not "rich man's food". I think that is what has caused a stereotype that it is not good for brain.

The most famous ragi-eater was of course, Deve Gowda, the sleeping PM. The only thing he achieved as PM was to give ragi eaters a bad name. :tsk:

When I was 15, I used to drink around half to 1 Litre of Ragi Kanji before Breakfast and in the evening. Never heard of it being bad. No food is bad for brain.

Pigeon pea/red gram (Thuvaram parapu) and Daal (payatham parapu) are considered a must (for brain development) in the case of vegetarian children. Many say it isn't advisable to feed on Ragi alone
