Do they survive because their Hull is sealed Airtight? I think the water will just flush through the Super structure?

It is very common for the warships to sail in such huge waves. In sea state 8 and onwards, the waves go over the bridge of the ship and yet the ship does not sink due to very high buoyancy and watertight structure.
