While ‪‎Pakistan‬ has plentiful supply of home made drones of many types, the decision to buy American mini drone may be due to longer flight time offered by scaneagle
    .
Although small in size, the UAV can stay airborne for 16+ hours and cover large area.

Another reason of buying foreign surveillance drone instead of buying from a Pakistani company may also be the sensors offered with scaneagle. In addition to the usual day night cameras, the UAV also comes with optional/ additional sensors such as a magnetic anamoley detector which can find submarines hidden under the sea.
The UAVs will be delivered by the end of 2015 and we will know for sure what type of sensors/capability the scaneagle came with.
