    Why Richard then?

I don't think it would be wrong to be a Christian and be a Punjabi like good old Bobby Jindal. The Governor of Louisiana?

BTW teh newspapers states that his Verma chap is called 'Rich Verma'.

As sophisticated as BBC's Kumars at No 42?

I've seen his name being put as Richard "Rahul" Verma or Rahul "Richard" Verma.

Anyway, here is a piece by KP Nayar on him:
    Untold limits of ethnic assets
KP Nayar seems to love off the record stuff a lot I've noticed, I remember another piece about Obama at a dinner when Modi was elected.

KP Nayar and Chidanand Rajghatta who are journalists operating from the US love to indicate that they are in the know of anything and everything of the US and US India relationship.

KP Nayar is half way home between the Punjabi 'Nayyar' and Malayali 'Nair' with his preferred surname 'Nayar', he is a Malayali.

That was my whole point. It is sad that Indians have to sell out their names, culture and religion usually just to get anywhere in American politics.

Try thanking Lord Vishnu in a political speech in America and then getting elected.

you will find lot of Indian families who migrated in 50-60-70ties ,who adopted English name just to blend in society of that time. society was not that tolerant in those time.

i know some sardars in UK known as

    Tony singh

    peter singh

    andrew singh

But not Sing Sing since that is a notorious US prison! :)

Why even in India, Garewal becomes Gary.

    Harinder becomes Harry.

    Manmohan become Manny.

    Balwinder becomes Bally.

    And so on.

    Call of the times?
