I think it was an impromptu attack.
In Takreer after prayers, Mullah can wail and moan and cry over anything under the sun that looks like a threat to Islam. Sometimes he succeeds in instigating the people to extreme and sometime he fails.

This one appears to be the case there he succeeded and some people in the procession could try their latest weaponry which they might have acquired with NATO's assistance. :heh:

If the Muslims actually learnt to ignore these kind of provocations or handle them in a mature way through lawsuits, peaceful demonstrations then the provocations would automatically reduce - as the provocateurs would know that they would be the ones who would be identified as villains and dealt with.

But then Muslims would not be Muslims if they did that...would they ?

An attack on an embassy, and the killing of its ambassador needs a severe response. Force is the only thing these kind of people understand. If the USA dont respond it will be showen as a sign as weakness and invite more attacks.

Islam is a creed of an ignorant people in a primitive and barbaric age. It is fixated in time and place; it harbors the ambition of taking the 21st century world back 14 centuries and ruling it by its dogma of violence, intolerance, injustice and death. Yet, Islam is not only an obsolete vestige of a defunct era, but itself is an infinitely fractured belief that can hardly put its own home in order. The numerous Islamic sects are at each other's throats; sub-sects and schools despise one another as much as they hate non-Muslims. Hatred, not love, drives Islam.
Iraq and Afghanistan do not seem to be enough for you

It is extraordinary that any Ambassador could be attacked in any country.

Such lawlessness and discard to international protocols will lead to chaos.

Without going into the rights and wrongs of the cause, the action is totally reprehensible and unacceptable.

It is the bounden and sacred duty of the international comity of Nations, and not solely that of the US, to take action against the perpetrators of this heinous crime and they be brought to book.

If the fundamentalists are to take law into their own hands and rechart international protocols, then they need to be wiped off the face of the Earth and a lesson taught to such lumpen elements.

The question is do they fear for their lives?
They do, at least till they haven't achieved their goal yet. Nobody likes to die a fool who didnt contribute anything.
One may be indoctrinated and all, but unless you achieve something you don't just go out and say "Come on, lets see who kills whom!!".
Look at the Taliban who're fighting guerilla war. They don't stand in front of automatic assault fire.
They play a hide and seek game and show up to enemy in moments of weakness, laxity and pull a surprise.
Why don't these people fight an open war? Because they know they'll be butchered in a head on clash and cannot gain anything that way. They don't want to die that way.

Behold !! After Libya and Egypt, one more attack coming in.

BBC News - US embassy in Yemen stormed in film protest

Excerpts

...."We can see a fire inside the compound and security forces are firing in the air. The demonstrators are fleeing and then charging back," one witness told the Reuters news agency....

....The crowd has been pushed out of the compound, but protests are reported to be continuing outside. There were reports of injuries on both sides, although Reuters carried a statement from the embassy saying there were none....

Rioting and violence outside US Embassy in Cairo continues for the second day running. Protestors are hurling rocks and Molotov cocktails at the compound.

While it seems that the Egyptian President Morsi is playing a very dangerous game,
Egypt's president spoke in the "strongest terms" about Tuesday's incident at the Cairo embassy -- but not against the attack.
WhiIe Egypt's prime minister called Tuesday's incident "regrettable" and unjustified, President Mohamed Morsy condemned the anti-Muslim film that incited the protesters.
Morsy made a reference to Egypt's duty to protect diplomatic missions and its opposition to unlawful protesters, but did not mention those who stormed the embassy.
"The presidency condemns in the strongest terms the attempt of a group to insult the place of the Messenger, the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and condemns the people who have produced this radical work," the president said in a statement posted on his Facebook page. "The Egyptian people, both Muslims and Christians, refuse such insults on sanctities."
The statement noted that "the Egyptian government is responsible to protect private and public properties and diplomatic missions in addition to embassy headquarters of various countries" and that "it respects and protects the right of expression and the right to protest peacefully under the law and will firmly oppose any irresponsible attempt to veer off the law."

I was astonished to see the speech President Obama gave on this topic. He was simply on election mode, trying to straddle both sides of the fence.

Ms.Clinton was more forceful and forthright in her reaction to the events in Libya and Egypt.

In my personal opinion americans have made a great mistake by not electing Hillary Clinton for the President.

@parijataka, all these bloody politicians making hay while the sun shines. How can you justify the attack on the embassy on the action of some miscreants.

We are seeing the same thing in India, where nobody is ready to even discuss the violent incidents at Azad Maidan anda also at Lucknow and Bareilly. It is just not politically correct to criticise the mob actions it seems.

Google refuses to remove YouTube clip mocking the Islamic Prophet Muhammad

SAN FRANCISCO: YouTube, the video website owned by Google, said on Wednesday it would not remove a film clip mocking the Islamic Prophet Muhammad that has been blamed for anti-US protests in Egypt and Libya, but it has blocked access to it in those countries.

The clip, based on a longer film, depicts the prophet as a fraud and philanderer and has been blamed for sparking violence at US embassies in Cairo and Benghazi. The US Ambassador to Libya, J Christopher Stevens, and three other American diplomats were killed in an attack on the US embassy in Benghazi on Tuesday.

"This video - which is widely available on the Web - is clearly within our guidelines and so will stay on YouTube," Google said in a statement. "However, given the very difficult situation in Libya and Egypt, we have temporarily restricted access in both countries. Our hearts are with the families of the people murdered in yesterday's attack in Libya."

The 14-minute clip is a trailer for a film called the "Innocence of Muslims," produced by a man who described himself as a California-based Israeli Jew named Sam Bacile.

Google has generally adopted a hands-off approach to political speech, although its "community guidelines" prohibit "hate speech," including speech that attacks or demeans a group based on religion. The guidelines can be viewed at YouTube - Broadcast Yourself..

"We work hard to create a community everyone can enjoy and which also enables people to express different opinions," Google said in its statement. "This can be a challenge because what's OK in one country can be offensive elsewhere."

In the past, Google has selectively filtered videos that violate local laws.

On Wednesday, Afghanistan's general director of Information Technology at the Ministry of Communications, Aimal Marjan, told Reuters, "We have been told to shut down YouTube to the Afghan public until the video is taken down."

I am a republican but think Obamas handling it well, Romney jumped the gun on some of his comments and does not seem have much differant foreign policy then Obama nor a plan. . Obama just told Egypt how they handle things determines if they are an ally or an enemy which is pretty strong talk.

Americans are still angery over Iran takeing the embassy hostage for over 400 days and torturing the people there, now an ambassor and his staff in another Islamic country have been tortured and murdered..... evidently they have not in
tention of treating the US in a civilized manner and that ends the USA;s obligatiions to do the same.

President Barack Obama says he will decide whether Egypt is an ally or an enemy of the United States in part according to the way the fledgling government in Cairo responds to the violent assault on the American Embassy there on Monday.

"Certainly in this situation what we're going to expect is that they are responsive to our insistence that our embassy is protected, our personnel is protected," Obama said. "And if they take actions that indicate they're not taking responsibilities, as all other countries do where we have embassies, I think that's going to be a real big problem."

The president—his handling of the so-called "Arab Spring" under fresh scrutiny after attacks on American diplomatic posts in Egypt, Libya and Yemen—had been asked by Telemundo whether he sees Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi's government as an ally.

"I don't think that we would consider them an ally, but we don't consider them an enemy. They're a new government that is trying to find its way," Obama replied in what, by the standards of diplomatic talk, amounted to a blunt warning.
