MIRANSHAH: A Nato helicopter incursion in the Datta Khel Tehsil of North Waziristan wounded two troops on Tuesday, local intelligence officials said, further ratcheting up tensions between Islamabad and the West.

"It happened early morning," a Pakistani intelligence official in the region, who declined to be identified, told Reuters. "The helicopter hit a Pakistani check post on the border in the Datta Khel area."

Another intelligence official said several Pakistani helicopters took off from Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan, towards the site of the attack. The purpose of the Pakistani mobilisation was unclear.

The Pakistani military was immediately unavailable for comment.

A spokesman for Western forces in Afghanistan said the coalition was not unaware of any incident, but would investigate.

North Waziristan is the base of the Haqqani network blamed for the insurgency in eastern Afghanistan. US-led drone aircraft have repeatedly targeted the area over the past year.

The incursion is the latest irritant for Pakistan in its dealings with the United States and Nato forces fighting in Afghanistan.

It was a going away present from Kerry to the Pakistanis...Our relationship cannot get any worse with Pakistan, it's time to cut the aid and declare Pakistan a state sponsor of terrorism.

Multiple versions of the story crop up, as usual huh?
There are reports in western media that the Pakistani forces fired first at the chopper and then it retaliated.
Pakistani media and Reuters have carried reports of the chopper firing first and then the forces retaliating.
I think the damage was averted, had the soldiers died, it would've lead to a serious issue.

I'm dissappointed, the present was too small :-(

Big question is will this bad marriage end in divorce?

I AGREE - Pakistan MUST be declared a terrorist state!

The US is doing a smart thing to pakistan which they cannot even imagine.

The US knows :- they cant put forces on ground in pakistan nor declare any kind of opposition , its trying to wedge a diplomatic bridge between the army and establishment , because they understood the army in pakistan has to be done away with.

Its putting the blame on the army and showing the mass public to vent their anger on the inefficiency of their armed forces.

These regular attacks are causing a problem for the armed forces as they cant ride the tiger anymore and the civil establishment is happy as they for once can see the army bearing the brunt of mass anger. The US is making pakistan go direction less in a master diplomacy step.
