Does the armed forces have a say in such strategic matters or not? The forces have to take the blame if the government fckd up because they were not able to convince the government?

If they had we would be hearing radio India from Islamabad, GOI don't need army for strategic matters our assembly is full of strategists in how to make scams.

As time goes by, I am more convinced that democracy having survived in India without the Army ever taking power is not something to be celebrated but actually something that should be mourned.

Is it or is it not the responsibility of the armed forces to kick out a government that compromises our strategic interests? In 60 years since Independence we have done is on numerous occasions. From conceding Kashmir to not bombing Puki nuclear installations. Why has the army not acted?

Again a reminder, the 7th is not going to move from the Pacific to BD. a small little base to have a couple of boats is not going to make any difference. On the other hand, it's good for India as one of the "strings of pearls" is gone for China. Who knows, this may have been at India's behest to have the US bait the BD into dropping China and allowing it a "base".

As long as we are "friends" with the US and able to absorb all kinds of modern tech, we should be ok. India in 2030 "facing" the US is not going to be an India facing the Chinis in 62.

India is not naive. A few US boats in Chittagong finishes off any illusion China had of placing its boats there as part of any militarization of the string of pearls and also puts on notice any such move in Myanmar. All in all, a welcome move IF true.

Presently its beneficial for us as long as China is a thread, there is no guaranteeing for future or in long run..
