It appears that there is a whole lot of political underplay at work.

Where does the rivalry between Hu and Jiang fit in?

Which side was Bo on and which side was Ling on, whose son was killed?

What will be the final outcome?

Where does Jumping fit into all this intrigue and backroom parleys and knife in the back political shenanigans?

I wonder how that would pan out.

Each would have a different approach to how China would move into the next phase of progress.

Something like Deng being totally different from Mao.

And yet both aimed at China's progress.

All we (Chinese and Indians) need is patience.

Rajeev Gandhi is different from Indira Gandhi, and Indira Gandhi is different from Nehru. Then Sonia Gandhi who is alleged to be the lady behind Man Mohan Singh also has some big ideas. In turn Rahul Gandhi is said to be the next shining star at the helm??!! Be PATIENT for the show to unfold itself!

Each generation of course has different approaches, from the older one under different circumstances. But certainly the older provides a fulcrum for the young. Deng was able to open and reform on basis of Mao's accumulation (land reform, collective farming, literacy, infra, and changed world equilibrium). Thanks to Deng China didn't become the 2nd Soviet Union. Jiang speareheaded Deng's "Market Economy" and opening and brought China to a new height while making significant corrections (such as in defence). Hu+Wen will be remembered for enhanced social security network and entirely exempting farmers from agricultural taxes since 2006 while re-orienting some sectors. like medicare and education and altering Deng's "hide China's capacities and bide our time“ in foreign relations.

As for Xi, he was once the head of my hometown. Many of us used to think he was mediocre. But in view of his profile during Mao's era, he worked in a poor and drought-smitten Shaanxi village (1969—1975) though he's a princeling. Hence Xi is supposed to have 1st-hand knowledge of the grassroots, in comparison to the elite who live in the ivory tower insular from the "masses".

    Patience is of course important.

However, like the US Presidential election affects the world, the Chinese change of power also affects the world.

Change in the rest of the world affects none.

Hence all are keen to know the intricacies that lie behind the change of power in the US and in China.

And since these changes are important, there is also a whole lot of media speculation and quite of bit would be opinions of vested interests, domestic and international.

Therefore, it is important to know what the average Chinese citizens feel about the change.

Rahul G is a non entity and no great shake. What he thinks, if indeed he capable of this exercise, is not material.
