If nuclear weapons are not a symbol of power then countries would not be pressured to sign these treaties.
Nuclear weapons are merely dangerous toys, a bunch of cracy right wings can make a huge fuss of it.

Now, true power is economic. Wall Street smashed Japan in 1985, SE Asia in 1997, Americans in 2008, Europeans in 2010 (still on-going). That's power.

Great, renounce your Nukes and take back what you gave your friend also known as sponsor of terrorism and destroy it. Stop you Jin s too and throw the DFs into the south china sea.

Most of the nations that wall street smashed are still economic powers. If these nations believe so strongly in pursuing only economic power why hasn't anyone made an effort to abandon ALL their nuclear weapons?

Pakistan most likely did test remember they had to respond to our test in 1974-smiling Buddha.
LF one more question...

Did all pakistani tests fail in 1998????The reason bing that that Pak design CHIC-4 was based on HEU but US spy plane detected plutonium in the air ......now FAS says this....

According to a preliminary analysis conducted at Los Alamos National Laboratory, material released into the atmosphere during an underground nuclear test by Pakistan in May 1998 contained low levels of weapons-grade plutonium. The significance of the Los Alamos finding was that Pakistan had either imported or produced plutonium undetected by the US intelligence community. But Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and other agencies later contested the accuracy of this finding.

They definetly had outside help for one simple reason to convert uranium into plutonium using the centrifuge method that Pakistan uses it takes about 5 years.

Splendid idea! Truly, we Chinese rather fight conventional wars (I mean if being forced into any) cos in that we have more confidence.

Our government always call for total destruction of all nuclear weapons from planet earth. The question is: who else will do it?

There are weapons now that USA and Russia both have that have the power of nukes without being classified as a nuke. The new US global strike weapon is one example.

The reason i ask why is that usa knew from early 1980s pakistan's quest for nukes but then it winked and allowed all those proliferation to happen right under its own nose reason being usa was embroiled in afghanistan against ussr and it needed pakistan's support and same is the situation now....usa getting beaten in afghanistan quagmire it needs pakistan's support and hence obama is again winking like Reagan did in 1980s and allowed the proliferation to happen like its now happening in form of nuke reactors from china without NSG and IAEA clearance.Isn't that usa is equally culpable in nuke proliferation crime along with china and pakistan. If proliferation is so rewarding then i dont know why india dutifully follows rules of NPT laid by the gang 0f five eventhough india is not a party to NPT....

Did Pakistan get punished for their proliferation??

Did Pakistan get questioned for their involvement in Irans's nuclear program??

Was AQ Khan ever questioned by CIA??

In fact there maybe a nuclear deal for Pakistan now so there must be many hidden things that nations are working to keep hidden. Even hypocrites like Japan have proliferated and broken NPT in helping Pakistan's nuclear program.

That's right. No such things as "best", only better.

New generations of weapons (hence strategy, tactics) would evolve. Nukes would be replaced, like swords & blades replaced by fire-powder. To tear apart another sovereign nation, new means would be deployed e.g. information, currency, trade, cultural, media, ... i.e. the new super weapons.

you are speaking from a civilian point of view but all things start with a military program, a good example of this is most nations space programs have a military side and always did from the beginning, we are not worried about exploring space but more worried about militarizing it and keeping others out first.

This was to keep parity with India no other reason, especially with a Bush nuclear deal to india in the works.
