Navy: U.S. destroyer collides with oil tanker in Strait of Hormuz - CNN.com
What is happening to USN... crashing into a tanker in open water is worse than beaching your ship like Chinese.
all must be high on drugs................
was it carrying iranian oil?
good way to enforce a blockage
Radar was locked to star tv
It could not be a collision but the ships have just kissed each other. Had it been a collision the destroyer would be at the bottom of the ocean.
USS Porter After the Collision with Oil Tanker
Too much of traffic in a narrow stretch of water.
or may be watching paki mujra
that looks like a mighty kiss
Looks like the tanker rammed that destroyer (it has a triangular impression on the most damaged part suggestive of frontally being hit by a bow).... But of course the destroyer could have avoided it early on had its crew paid more attention to the traffic.
Anyway, its amazing how thin that destroyer's hull is. It looks like a tin can ripped open...
If you compare the huge bulk of these crude carriers to that of a destroyer and then try to work out the effect of a frontal impact at a speed of 5 Knots.
By the looks of it the Destroyer took a hard turn and could not avoid grazing the tanker. The scraping marks can be seen running down the length of the Destroyer.
good for the Tanker crew they navy ship was not Italian, or they would have killed the crew, sink the ship and would have pleaded terrorist attack.
Btw so much for the high tech US navy ship.
