GOI has given its response. Cheap media reports will come out in numbers in the days of everyone considering themselves defense/political experts.

We can not deny them freedom to have their views but a motivated anti-national crap should not be promoted.

Thank you KB for closing the thread.

No doubt about armed forces' patriotism: Antony

"We don't question their patriotism... don't question the patriotism of the soldiers who are dying for the country," Antony said.

To save Congress - I this UPA govt. can sell this nation at whim.

The PMO and MoD has been seriously compromised with traitors who work for enemies of the state.

Army chief's demand to punish the culprits with High treason was a hint he was trying to give to this nation that this bugged UPA govt. has deliberately leaked the letter. Anyone with half a brain can understand that PMO and MoD are involved in this troop movement spook and leaked letter.

Still no media outlet is coming out with these tough question but making this whole nation '-------' by twisting the real facts with shoddy, over polished reporting.

when i first saw the news of an attempted coup,i readily checked all the news channels but found that all of them were repeating the same news,so i checked through google to find any detailed update in this matter.but unfortunately the first source that i found out googling was this crappy Indian Express news agency.so i really apologize to all forum members for unintentionally spreading fake news about our IA:frusty:!

Sir all political people are doing their professional duty by tweeting & herping. B Raman asks to avoid sensationalisation of issue.

Whoever planted this story should be booked under treachery, interrogated, banned from publishing outlets & tried in court for anti-national conspiracy.

If Indian Express is that desperate to grab eyeballs, it should try porn! Many media organisations have successfully used that!

Agree with the last line. It will send jitters down many especially those looking to invest in India.

--------------------------------------------

NEW DELHI: Members of Parliament today quizzed Defence Secretary Shashi Kant Sharma and Army Vice-Chief S K Singh on a media report of suspicious movement of troops near the capital in January but they dismissed it as baseless.

Sharma and Singh, appearing before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence, said it was normal process of testing the preparedness of the armed forces, sources said.

The two were asked to appear before the Committee to brief members on recent controversies dogging the armed forces, including the deal to procure Tatra trucks for the Army.

However, the newspaper report which said that on the night of January 16-17 an entire mechanised infantry unit based in Hisar with its fighting vehicles began moving towards Delhi, the day Army Chief Gen V K Singh approached the Supreme Court on the age issue, dominated the proceedings today.

Committee Chairman Satpal Maharaj asked the Defence Secretary and the Vice Chief of the Army to appear before the Committee on April 9 with complete facts related to the issue, they said.

Asaduddin Owaisi (AIMIM), P J Kurien (Cong), Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi ( BJP) and Ram Kirpal Yadav (RJD) raised the issue at the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee.

Several members felt that such reports created fear in the minds of the people as it was related to civil-military relations.

A section of the members also felt that such reports could send a wrong message to the world.

Don't lower Army chief's dignity: PM

R/s PMO,

Why GOI allowed to publish this report? Is that how liberal this country wants to be? Or we have some political motive in this mess? Please be specific in your motivation like you are specific with your choice of words.

R/s IA,

You don't require MoD's permission to move troops. But ministry must be notified when National Capital Region's geography is involved. :yuno: follow protocol? Was it just a clerical mistake or you wanted to signal something to civil establishment on 16th Jan ?

The last thing I would expect from IA, personally speaking just from what I have learned on DFI. I agree reporters can be disgraceful people. But you really can't just shoot them.:frusty:

Sad Day. Deeply pained at the tarnishing reports irrespective of the amount of truth in it.

Anyone else notice that in the last 2 weeks we have coup rumours with PLA moving into Beijing and IA moving into New Delhi? How many suspect a foreign hand behind this?

I have never heard such a bogus story before.

If there was any coup attempt, no idiot would send the units back on the orders of the Defence Secretary.

There is a Brigade stationed in Delhi itself and that is adequate to spook the people who get spooled at their own shadows.

Moving few troops does not mean 'coup'. People need to understand the difference between administrative foul & sensationalized alarm.

Give me 1 armed forces officer translating this miscarriage into a attempted coup.
