It is good to see India becoming a raw material supplier to countries like the US and Japan, especially the later。

In the meantime, China should save its own resources, clean up the environment and make Australia、Canada, and even the US commodity suppliers in return for manufactured goods。

This is a win-win situation for all。

It is a pity that India is not known for rich in resources.

Otherwise there could be a mining boom and China can benefit from selling in India huge quantities of mining equipments/machineries.

One man's poison can be another man's medicine. :namaste:

It takes decades for China to come to the conclusion --> China's rare earth boom comes at grim cost|Economy|chinadaily.com.cn
Waste water from mining operations cannot be used for irrigation, even after being processed according to national emission standards, Zhang Xusheng said. He dodged a question about what might happen to people who live downstream from the mines, as many of them rely on rivers and streams for irrigation.

While eliminating new sources of pollution is challenging, cleaning up pollution from older sources is even more difficult. Rare earth mining began in Ganzhou in the 1970s, leaving much of the land scarred by barren tailing ponds and eroded hilltops.
Good luck, India!

That shows how much you know of Indian resources.

There is mining, but not over mining to ruin the environment.

In fact, the Environment Ministry has very stringent rules and that is what is being highly debated to find a via media between mining and the saving the environment.

Equipment to be used for mining/ is manufactured by BHEL and so no big deal about buying Chinese equipment.

This refrain of China saving the resources is China's way of saving face at failing to blackmail the world, similar to the tactics of the OPEC by controlling the resource.

Like OPEC, China will realise that the Chinese cartel has been broken,

How to blackmail the world when you keep cutting your exportation for years? And there is no sign that China will bring the exportation scale back to the previous level.

In the past, China need to export resources to earn foreign currency. Today, China need to save its resource for its own industry. In the future, China may import the rare earth from india as iron ore.

In so far as minerals which are of strategic value, while one may save it for the future, but one does not cut back suddenly unless there are nefarious political reasons signaturing the necessity of such a move.

Let's go over what u wrote
Rare Earth is not so rare, in case you did not know.
So, why make such a fuss? There's no cartel at all. Now India is rushing to fill the vacuum for Japan. Good luck to environmentally friendly Indians India ranks 125th in addressing pollution control

India is not rushing to fill any vacuum caused by China's sudden drying up for political blackmail. What other explanation could be there for this sudden decision not to sell rare earth.

China was selling rare earth at the lowest rate in the world so as to eliminate competition and hence rare earth of other places (like Canada) were not competitive. Obviously one would buy from the one who under cuts competition. In this case, it was China.

Indeed rare earth is not so rare. But then you did not read the remainder of the explanation. They are not concentrated at one point and hence one has to mine at a number of places.

One must have the patience to read and then shoot off like a Scud missile.

When China sold cheap at the cost of her own environment nobody gave a shit about "competition" being eliminated.

When China erected bars for such irrational "dumping", some self-righteous folks raised a great hue and cry against the new rule.

But who cares? China just has to do what's needful for her own people. Let Canada, or India unleash their long pent-up productivity.

China sold cheap to enhance her economy. She did no favours to anyone but themselves.

Having got the economy on its feet, China has put up the bar.

It is like the saying about girls who lead you on and then go cold. China's act is like something-tease!

If China does not care, then go cold here too!

But joining in, does indicate China burns.

A dog in the Manager attitude (metaphorically, that is!).
