They are, but projecting it as 'ethnic' clashes. Their intonation is such that a person hearing about it for the first time would think that only the Bodos are at fault.

guwahati -delhi rajdhani express blocked

Guwahati: At least 18 people have been killed as violence escalated in South Assam. The mob has also stopped Delhi-Guwahati Rajdhani Express.

The army and police are keeping a strict vigil in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts which have seen ethnic clashes between Bodos and immigrant communities since July 20.

Night curfew has been imposed with Section 144 CrPC in force in the entire district till further orders, Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar, Donald Gilfellon said

On Sunday, Inspector General of Police SN Singh told PTI that DIG S Kumar and Kokrajhar Additional Superintendent of Police Amar Choudhury were on their way to assess the situation in Fakiragram area on Sunday when their convoy was blocked by a mob demanding release of 10 people held in connection with the killing of four former Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT) cadres. The police officials urged the mob to move out but were instead pelted with stones. Mr Kumar was hit on his head, while two of his personal security officers also got injured. The police resorted to lathicharge and finally opened fire to disperse the crowd in which another person was injured while the vehicles of both the DIG and ASP were damaged by the mob, Singh said.

The violence had also spread to Chirang district from Kokrajhar with two persons being shot dead in attacks and counter-attacks by Bodos and minority immigrants.

Additional forces have been rushed to the affected areas

Of the total 21 deaths, Kokrajhar accounted for 17 while neighbouring four persons died in Chirang district, to where the violence between minority immigrants and Bodo tribals spread.

BTW wtf is "Muslim settlers" ?..They are "illegal immigrants from Bangladesh who are all Muslims"

Shame on the national media for diluting their status and giving it a semblance of legitimacy. :tsk:

Also I can understand weapons in the hands of the Bodos - they had waged an insurgency all these years...but how come weapons in the hands of these illegal Bangladeshi muslims ? Isnt it a very grave national security concern ??

On Monday afternoon, hundreds of people carrying spears squatted on the railway line linking Assam's capital Guwahati to New Delhi. Singh said they had stopped an express train for several hours, demanding that the authorities release several men detained in connection with the killings of the four youths.
All illegal Bangladeshi immigrants....violence in Barak Valley, burning of hindu temple, now this tamasha...a taste of things to come in the future courtesy the mindless muslim appeasing policies of the past and present Assam govt. You deserve it !

Thousands flee violence in India's Assam, 19 killed | Reuters

(Reuters) - Thousands of people have fled their homes in India's northeastern Assam state after fighting between indigenous tribes and Muslim settlers killed at least 19 people, wounded many more, and left villages in flames, police said on Monday.

Police were forced to fire warning shots to disperse armed groups that were moving between jungle hamlets on Monday, setting fire to bamboo houses, police and aid workers in the area told Reuters. Soldiers and federal paramilitary forces were patrolling remote districts.

"We saw miscreants burning down village after village on Monday," said a senior police officer who asked not to be identified. "It's total madness going on here. People have lost their senses."

S.N.Singh, Assam's inspector general of police, told Reuters he had ordered his men to shoot at gangs on the streets on sight after a dawn-to-dusk curfew was imposed to stop the violence spreading.

Ringed by China, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Bhutan, India's northeast is home to more than 200 ethnic and tribal groups and has been racked by separatist revolts since India's independence from Britain in 1947.

In recent years, Hindu and Christian tribes have begun to give vent to strong anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim sentiment against Bangladeshi settlers.

VIOLENCE TRIGGERED BY KILLINGS

The latest wave of violence was sparked on Friday night when unidentified men killed four youths in the state's Bodo tribe- dominated Kokrajhar district near the borders of Bangladesh and Bhutan, police and district officials said.

In retaliation, armed Bodos attacked Muslims, suspecting them to be behind the killings.

About 50,000 villagers have fled their homes and taken shelter in relief camps out of fear since then, said Donald Gilfellon, a senior civil servant in the Kokrajhar district, adding that 37 camps had been set up to help the refugees and that more would be opened if needed.

"Schools and government buildings are getting over-crowded. More and more people are coming, we have given up counting," said another district civil servant, who requested not to be named.

Police said unidentified groups had fired indiscriminately from automatic weapons in populated areas over the weekend. On Sunday, the body of a six-month-old child was found by villagers on a river bank along with the body of a woman, police said.

On Monday afternoon, hundreds of people carrying spears squatted on the railway line linking Assam's capital Guwahati to New Delhi. Singh said they had stopped an express train for several hours, demanding that the authorities release several men detained in connection with the killings of the four youths.

Businesses, offices and schools remained closed on Monday, and streets were deserted in Kokrajhar town as heavily armed security men patrolled on foot and in mine-proof vehicles.

"We can't think of going back home. Our village is vulnerable to attacks and the government failed to give us protection," resident Hiranya Musaharay said by phone from Kokrajhar town where he was staying with relatives.

Kick the settlers out. They have their own country to go to.
1) Our constitution does not allow it.
2) Unlike the West, we have a moral outlook on immigration and not a commercial one. We try not to treat immigrants and cattle or slave labor like the Mexicans are in the US and the Africans are in Europe.

Religion of peace spreading so much peace wherever they go/settle.No respect for the local religion/culture.

Please elaborate the constitution part.

Instead Indians are becoming slaves themselves by treating illegal immigrants like guests(vote bank). Because of India not taking stringent actions against illegal immigration there are Bangladeshi ghettos everywhere which is breeding ground of criminal activities and religious extremism.

Karthic,

We have discussed this earlier. See this post:
And anyway what about the demographics in that area..are they Indian muslims or the illegals from BD..?
They are not Bengalis.

They are Hindi-Urdu speaking Muslims who have no trade, community or marriage related links with Bengali Muslims.

They are like those living in Assam. Bangladeshis call them Biharis, and Indians call them Bangladeshis. They were the collaborators of the Pakis or Razakars and when Bangladesh became independent, many of them were killed by the Mukti-Bahini and so they ran into Assam to save their lives and naturally, they are more loyal to Pakistan than either India or Bangladesh. (Pakistan has refused to take them back, but then, they even refused to take back NLI PoWs from Kargil War. I will open a thread on this.)

Regarding blasphemy, when my dad visited Bangladesh, he brouhgt back a video of Muslim kids doing Dhunuchi-Naach in front of Godess Durga. Also, a majority of devotees at Baba Loknath's Temple in Bangladesh are Muslims, just like so many Hindus go and pray at Haji Ali in Mumbai. Bangladesh is predominantly secular, but there are a few bad apples.
My question is, are we sure who the Bodos are fighting against?

Sir, I'd like to say that you are incorrect on both counts. I assure you, there are provisions of deportation of illegal settlers under the law. It is another story that no government has the balls to use the law.
Secondly, there being a moral outlook or not to immigration is irrelevant here. Immigration is when people legally enter a country. These are refugees. It could be understood that there was a war in neighbouring country and they are waiting it out. But no, they have been here from '71. So kicking them out is the only moral thing to do, I'm sorry to say.

I would speculate, most of these are Razakar settlers who were kicked out by the Bengali Muslims from newly independent Bangladesh. Pakistan, to whom they were loyal, did not take them. Bangladesh doesn't want them. We should simply put them in Geneva camps like Bangladesh has done. India tries too be too humanitarian with these people, often to its own detriment. Most importantly, they are not Indian citizens and should not be voting.

Our country doesn't deport those illegals due to political compulsions of our Sickular government. Only UN Refugees are eligible for shelter, not any tom-dick-or harry. We guard our borders have put barbed wire fence for some reason. We are hosting around 3000 Rohingya Muslims in India despite the fact that they have not been given the "Refugee" status by the UN, and one of the NGOs run by a Muslim MPs is taking care of them here in Delhi. Why don't these Muslim NGOs adopt a few Kashmiri Pundit families?

We must not help others when our own house is on fire, well-being of our own people must be the first priority.

The Hindu : States / Other States : Shoot orders in Kokrajhar as violence escalates; death toll 20

Unabated violence on Monday forced the Assam government to issue shoot-at-sight orders in Kokrajhar district. Miscreants from among Bodos and Muslims set ablaze houses in several villages forcing residents to take shelter in relief camps on Sunday.

The death toll in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts went up to 20. The Army staged a flag march in sensitive areas of Kokrajhar district for the second day, even as over 40,000 people fled their homes and took shelter in 47 camps.

Inspector-General of Police (Bodoland Territorial Area Districts) S.N. Singh told The Hindu that shoot-at-sight orders were issued as the situation was threatening to take a serious turn. So far, 15 bodies had been recovered in Kokrajhar and five in Chirang. The violence had also left 18 persons injured.

Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Donald Gilfellon said incidents of arson were widespread on Monday with miscreants torching houses left abandoned by panicked villagers.

Indefinite curfew was clamped again on Monday night after relaxation during the day. Violence spread to the neighbouring Dhubri district during a bandh called by the All Assam Minority Students' Union to protest the attack on minorities in the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD), prompting the district administration to clamp indefinite curfew in areas under six police stations. The Army has been called in to assist the civil administration in preventing escalation of violence.

The 24-hour bandh called by the All Bodoland Minority Students' Union affected life in all four BTAD districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri. The violence-hit people blocked the Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express between Bongaigaon and Gossaigaon for several hours, disrupting running of 18 trains. The train left after the administration persuaded the agitators to lift the blockade.

A meeting of political parties and socio-cultural organisations was held at the Kokrajhar Circuit House. Environment and Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain, Transport Minister Chandan Brahma, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Nazrul Islam, Bodoland Territorial Council chief Hagrma Mahilary, and representatives of the All Bodo Students' Union attended the meeting. It urged the people to maintain peace. Dhubri District Superintendent of Police P.K. Saloi said sporadic incidents of violence occurred in Gauripur, Golokganj and Dhubri during the bandh. In Dhubri, miscreants set ablaze a tribal students' hostel.

At Dispur, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi reviewed the situation and ordered that additional forces be rushed and steps taken to curb violence and restore peace

Re: 6 killed in violence in Assam's Kokrajhar town; curfew clamped

Guess what - I was travelling through Gurgaon/Haryana, and what I found was Shocking!!!!! Even in Haryana, Bangaladeshi population has swelled and you can find new Ghettos coming up - locals tell me crime rate has increased and there are few no go zones there!

When I asked few Jats/Gujjar regarding this issue, they said all this is happening because of Huda/congress govt. policy! Jats are not Bodos (Bodos are slow, lethargic and react late)......If Bangladeshis create any ruckus, they will be met with phenomenal magnitude of violence, here no political party will be able to protect them and secularism/NGOism will fail completely!

P.S: Bangladeshis are fast becoming like pakis swamping white/western countries! If nothing is done soon, there is much more to lose! First thing first - get corrupt secular congress out of power, only then something can be devised on various fronts!
secular people will close their eyes towards this incident and keep shouting about gujarat riots. They want peacefull secular goverment but want us to keep eyes closed towards this peaceful secular violence according to them

If they are so, then all the good reasons to 'encourage' them to find a new homeland.

The GOI may have sympathy for illegal Bangladeshis, but having sympathy for Pakistanis is a bit too thick.
