Agreed, we are facing worst power crisis in our history but should we compromise on our defence in a hostile neighborhood? Can we afford that?

Why is India building nukes when half your population lacks sanitary facilities and 250+ million mouth go hungry every day? Is water and food less important than elextricity?

Where is it said India is building nukes.We seemed to have stopped at the 90-110 mark

Karachi has the oldest commercial reactor operating at 40MW and two 300MW reactors are operational at Chashma with a third and fourth 350MW reactor in final stages. Third one will start producing electricity next year and the fourth in 2016.

China has started consructing two 1000MW reactors at Karachi to be completed by 2018-19.

Plans exist for 6 more of such designs.
