Blah...Blah...Blah. Moving 5% of your population out of poverty in one decade means it will be 2050 before 60-70% of the population are middle-class - maybe be a start, but it is no stellar achievement.

You can make up all the excuses you want about India starting later than China and the economy opening up in last 20 years, and all that.
But the fact of the matter remains that India has been independent for more than 60 years.

All I said was that Indians should not laugh at poverty in Pakistan when probably half the Indian people are still surviving on less than 2 bucks a day. It just makes us look stupid !!

BTW: Kerala may completely deindustrialized and one of the worst performing states in India from the standpoint of industrial production.
Agreed, no debate there. But you dont know Kerala as well as I do. Kerala's entire economy is based on foreign remittances - and that is how people in Kerala live better than most states in India. Almost every single family has someone or multiple people working abroad and sending home money, mine included. Nobody is sitting on their asses, and waiting for the CPI/M or Congress babus at state government to change their fortunes.
Are you edited insane?

I just told you that China's per-capita income and gross national GDP was much smaller than India's at a similar stage of development. Their incomes took off after a certain period of critical agglomeration. After which, 'infrastructure catalyzation', in places outside the SEZ's, began in earnest.

This was Guangzhou as late as 2009:

Who the heck is laughing at poverty? The thread title reads The tragedy that is Poverty in Pakistan.

You think industrializing later than China is an 'excuse'? The Chinese industrialization in the 1970's was a direct product of the Sino-Soviet split that institutionalized in their memory, and most proximately of the death of Mao. Do me a favor and stop talking out of your arse please.

The fact of the matter is that being independent for over 60 years doesn't mean shit. Not when you're on the other side of the fence, have the world's truly most industrialized powers level sanctions against you and depend on Soviet-Union aid for machinery and heavy-industries.

And yes, Kerala, today is a shit hole. And no, it doesn't represent the other better-performing states. Higher standard of living, my ass. The only thing that Kerala ranks higher on than other states, is literacy and life expectancy. It has one of the highest population densities, dilapidated healthcare infrastructures, stratification between migrant families and families that stick together, poorest road networks and lowest per capita incomes. Higher standards of living! From what, Kerala cab drivers and construction workers in the Gulf sending home a pittance? If you think that model of exporting high talent, manual labour to the Gulf will work throughout India, you're a fool. It is no long lasting solution to India's problems, and we've already seen the security of those incomes via the Gulf crisis.

Let's stick to the topic, what has Pakistan done to alleviate poverty other than spending aid money from donors? For instance, in which area has the govt created jobs? Manufacturing? I hardly see any product made in Pakistan, that's why I am wondering why the country cannot get into the call center biz.

How do you come to that conclusion?

Any facts, links or just a gut feeling?

I find hardly any beggars now a days. Instead, they come with joss sticks etc to sell when the car stops at a traffic signal!

" The Chinese industrialization in the 1970's was a direct product of the Sino-Soviet split that institutionalized in their memory, and most proximately of the death of Mao. "

WTF are you talking about. You cant even string a straight sentence together. "Institutionalized in their memory".......my foot !!

China transformation was because they had one terrific leader named Deng Xioping who was smart enough, pragmatic enough to realize that the traditional socialist economic model was a pathetic waste of time. Deng was probably one of the best leaders China has ever had. The relationship with the Soviets had nothing to do with Deng decision to move towards toward a capitalist economic model. Simply put - he wasnt hung up on ideology, and was focussed on results. The rest is history.

You can say whatever you want about Kerala - but I would take Trivandrum or Cochin anyday over a polluted filthy shit-hole city like Mumbai.
And I am willing to bet that the countryside in Kerala in way better than most other parts of rural India. And the roads are not too bad either.
Heck, they may even have better roads than some places in California.

Listen to this chvtiya telling me I can't string a sentence together. Tell me son, have you ever studied political science? Economy? History? If not, STFU.

Idiot, do me a favor and read the life of Deng Xiaoping! Read how he, Liu Shaoqi and others from the political opposition were disillusioned with Mao's policies during the Sino-Soviet split and plotted to remove him from power. Then STFU again! I've studied Chinese economic history indepth, so if you think you're going to take me on on something you don't know, prepare yourself to be anal-whipped.

He wasn't hung up on ideology because of the sh!t he saw during Mao's tenure, chvtiya! You think a guy who joins the PRC, marches with them from the onset during the Civil War, was a political commissar in the rural hinterland and was considered a "revolutionary veteran" for his "imposition" of party-control in the districts suddenly doesn't become hung-up-on-ideology?

You can rot in Trivandrum or Kochi all you like, I'll sit in my shit-bag city, rake in the moolah and see you stump and gnaw your feet when your Arab 'kings' tell you to GTFO because of 'their recession'.

And say whatever the f^ck you want about Mumbai, scores of people come teeming to this city for a reason, chv tiya!

@Rage........ You seem to have an serious "anal fixation". It comes out whenever you get overly excited. Please, try to keep your homo-erotic fantasies to yourself. We dont need to hear it on DFI.

Also, you seem to completely lose it on this forum. You provide us with a lot of humor - your idiotic phrases like "industrial catalyzation" . I'm sure it came from your political science class.....huh.
You must have had an English teacher who told you early on that putting as many big words and creating convoluted phrases, makes for "good english". Good Luck with that......and Oh.....you're a big China expert because you have studied Chinese economy in detail.

Well I just lived with Chinese all my life, and I have spent the last 25 years of my life here in the US working with Chinese from all parts of Mainland China. I guess that doesnt count for squat.....right

Oh, so I see for a lack of argument, you make a completely ad-hominem post <not withstanding my partially ad-hominem post, that took your 'argument to the cleaners, before>.

"Anal-fixation"? Are you trying to impute that to me, because you're a secretly homo-erotic, closet fanouk? Is that why you make stupid posts all the time, so that you can get "anal-whipped"?

Why would you think I am being immodest when I said 'I studied Chinese economic history indepth'? I am just stating a fact. Am I supposed to know less than you, because it's my field of study? It would be like me arguing with you about computers, when I clearly know much less than you.

"Industrial catalyzation" is an economic word, you dumb mallu Yank. Maybe if you actually got an education, instead of relying on the '99% literacy rate' credentials of your state, you'd be able to present a logically correct, cogent argument some of the time. Do I need to break that down for you? my retarded brejjen from the South?

You've 'lived with Chinese all your life'? What does that have to do with your credentials about its economic history? Zip. Got that.

No, we can't. Because this chvtiya keeps bringing in off-topic nonsense all the time. He's fixated with China. In every fvckin thread!

You just have to go through his insane posts to see how he's obsessed with comparing China's military-industrial complex with India's, or China's per-capita income against India's, even in threads that have nothing remotely whatsoever to do with it!

Yeh, some part of that living '25 years with Chinese from all parts of the mainland' , has affected him all right!

When have you ever seen me losing it on this forum, moron? I lose it with you because you act like a one-dimensional, moronic lunatic, singing the same "China is great, India is b@lls" tune all the time. And the worst part is, you're talking out of you hat! When I tell you, Deng's rejection of the Maoist doctrine is a direct result of him witnessing Mao's sh!t and inefficiencies during the Sino-Soviet split, you give me some bullcr@p about him revolutionizing the Chinese economy, because he was some kinda 'revolutionising visionary'. You obviously learnt that in your history class, didn't you? Give it a break! And while you are giving it a break, read up on China's history. And no, don't take it from the 'studied Chinese history indepth' 'Chinese expert'.

There's another chvtiya statement from a complete chvtiya. You should do those Raymond's ads, for 'the Complete chvtiya'. 50% of the Yank's Indian immigrants are from the West coast. It doesn't take a 'Silicon-valley'-nerd to be smart. And no, all the rocket-scientists are from the South. Ask DRDO?
