Some interesting Tweets from Syria.

@SajeevJino, do your sources report these? Don't let these Tweets by any means stop you from blaming Assad for everything.

Do not mix war-fighting with policing. If you are in a war, then fight a war. Just bomb them.

Look at the video above. See the crowds cheering? Must be all paid by Kremlin, no?

Chemical attacks were all carried out by the so called "moderates." Forget Wiki. Read the UN report posted in this thread.

Sorry, I don't restrict myself to mainstream media, and certainly not western media. I am smarter than that.

The Russian military in Syria is in "constant contact" with the Syrian opposition forces that are fighting Islamic State, Russia's Ministry of Defense says. The opposition is providing the Russian Air Force with coordinates to strike at terrorists.

Turkish MP faces treason charges after telling RT ISIS used Turkey for transiting sarin

A treason investigation has been launched against a Turkish MP who alleged in an exclusive interview with RT that Islamic State jihadists delivered deadly sarin gas to Syria through Turkey.
Once Turkish mass-media reported the criminal investigation had been opened against Erdem, the hashtags #ErenErdemYalnızDeğildir - #ErenErdemYouAreNotAlone began to circulate in Turkish social networks.
On Tuesday, MP Erdem issued a written statement in his defense, saying he had become the target of a smear campaign because of his statements made in parliament.
He claimed he had received death threats over social media following the publication of his interview with RT, revealing the Turkish paramilitary organization Ottoman Hearths had published his home address on Twitter to enable an attack on his house.

This is the alleged phone calls of then Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan's with his son Bilal about the imminent threat of being raided by police and hence advising Bilal to get ride of all the cash from their safe:

Here is the translation fro those who don't speak Turkish.

1st Call
R.Tayyip Erdogan (Ankara) - N.Bilal Erdogan (Istanbul)
17.12.2013 08.02

R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Are you at home, son?'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Yes, father.'
R. Tayyip Erdogan: 'This morning they conducted an operation, Ali
Agaoglu, Reza Zerrab, our Erdogan's son, Zafer's son, Muammer's son
etc., they are currently searching all of their homes.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Can you repeat, father?'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'I'm saying that Mr. Muammer's son, Zafer's son,
Erdogan's son, Ali Agaoglu, Reza Zerrab etc. 18 people's homes are being
searched as part of a big corruption operation etc. etc.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Yes.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Ok, I'm saying that, whatever you have in your house,
you get it out. OK?'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'What would I have, father? Your money is in the safe.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'That's what I'm talking about. I'm sending your
sister over (Sumeyye Erdogan). OK?'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Who are you sending?'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'I said I'm sending your sister.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Hmm OK.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'She has exactly the same information as you, OK?
Speak to your brother.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Yes.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Let's do this, speak to your uncle etc., he must get
rid of it the same way, speak to your brother-in-law, him too.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'What shall we do with them, father? Where shall we put
them?'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Just do them in certain places, alright' (PM's wife
can be heard saying 'Berat').
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Berat has some too.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'That's what I'm saying, come together with your
uncle, I don't know if your brother-in-law Ziya has any or not, OK, and
urgently thing your brother Burak, OK?'
N.Bilal: 'OK father. Is Sumeyye going to tell me where to take it?'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'OK, just do it, just think of your's between you with
your brother-in-law etc.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'As to what we should do.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Yes, yes, let's keep in communication until 10,
because the subject is...'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'OK, father.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'OK? Stay in communication.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'OK, father.'

2nd call
R.Tayyip Erdogan (Ankara) - N.Bilal Erdogan (Istanbul)
17.12.2013 11.17

N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Father, we came together with Hasan etc., my
brother, Berat, my uncle, all together, we're thinking of something,
Berat had another idea. He says we should give some of it to Faruk
(Kalyoncu), he says he can give it to him in regards to the other job.
He can work it the same way as he did with the other money. Shall we do
that, we can sort out a serious amount of it that way.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Possibly.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'OK, and we're considering that, because we've started a
joint business with Mehmet Gur, you keep some of it, as projects come
in you can use it up. This way we can reduce it and move the remainder
to somewhere else.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'OK, just thing those.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'OK.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Has Sumeyye arrived?'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Sumeyye has arrived home, she's coming over here now,
she's going to come to us, OK, father? We're sorting this out today,
God-willing. Is there anything else?
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'There's benefit in you nullifying the entirety (of
the money).'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Yes, we'll nullify the entirety, God-willing.'Image 7:

3rd call
R.Tayyip Erdogan (Ankara) - N.Bilal Erdogan (Istanbul)
17.12.2013 15.39

R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Have the other tasks I gave you been completed?'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'We will have finished by the evening. We've sorted out
some of it, the part regarding Berat. Now we're probably going to sort
out the part regarding Mehmet Gur first, and we will sort out the
remainder after dark.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: '....'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'God-willing.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'What did Sumeyye do?'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Sumeyye, got them out, brought them over etc., we spoke etc.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Has she sorted out both sides?'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'She has given them I believe, father. She said she emptied them both.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Both sides?'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Yes, she said she emptied them both. Is that what you mean by 'both sides'?'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Whatever, OK.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'What time are you coming?'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'It will find around twelve.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Have a good journey.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Don't (plural) speak on the phone to one another.'

4th call
R.Tayyip Erdogan - N.Bilal Erdogan
17.12.2013 23.15

N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Now, father, I call you for... We've largely
done... Did you call me just now, father?'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'No, I didn't call, you called.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'I was called from a withheld number.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'When you say 'largely', have you nullified it (the
money) or...'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'We haven't nullified it yet, father. The situation is
that a €30,000,000 (what's left after much of the money has been
disposed of!) remains. We couldn't liquidate it yet. Berat had the idea
that... He says Ahmet Calik is owed $25,000,000. We can give that there
and when that money comes in we thing it. And with the remainder we can
buy an apartment from Sehrizar. How do you view this, father?'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: (Thinks... And a strange noise is heard over the phone)
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'So, father?'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Is Sumeyye with you?'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'She's here, shall I call her over?'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'No, the sound got mixed up, that's why I asked.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Hmm, so $25,000,000 can be transferred to Calik, and with the remainder, an apartment bought from Sehrizar.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Whatever, we'll... We'll sort it out.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Shall we do it?'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'OK, do it.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Shall we completely nullify it, father, or do you want some left on you?'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'It can't be left, son. You should have thinged with Mehmet and transferred it there.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Yeah, we've given it to them, OK, we gave them $20 (million).'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Yeah, we gave it to them, OK, we gave them $20
(million).'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'God! You should have transferred it. Then you could
have done it.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'How should I know, this is what we were able to give,
father. It's difficult, it takes up a lot of space etc., we're putting
another part of it somewhere else, we gave a part of it to our person,
we gave Tunc some...'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Did you transfer the entirety to Tunc?'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Sumeyye look here (to Sumeyye). Where, father?'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'I said to Tunc, did you transfer the entirety?'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'So they've asked, and they said they can only take
€10,000,000.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Whatever, don't talk this much on the thing. Even
like this; don't talk about it.'
N.Bilal erdogan: 'OK, we'll sort it out, then.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Sort it out now. I won't be able to come this
evening, I'm staying in Ankara.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'OK, we're sorting it out, don't you worry.'

5th Call
R.Tayyip Erdogan (Ankara) - N.Bilal Erdogan (Istanbul)
18.12.2013 10.58

R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'I decided to call to see if there's anything new.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'There's nothing new really, we've completed the tasks
you gave us, God-willing.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Has it been completely nullified?'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Completely. Well, when I say 'completely', how can I
say it; I had money from Samandira and Maltepe, $730,000 and TRY300,000.
With those - we owe Faik Isik TRY1,000,000 - I will give it to him, and
I'll tell him to transfer the rest to the academy.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Don't speak so - Don't speak so openly!'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'Shouldn't I?'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Don't, OK?'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'OK, father.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'It doesn't matter where the money belongs, don't keep
it on your person. Send it to its place, why are you keeping it on
you?'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'OK, father, but I believe I'm under daily
surveillance.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'What have we told you from the very beginning?'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'But is it the security personnel? Who's following us,
father?'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'Son, you're (plural) being listened to.'
N.Bilal Erdogan: 'But apparently they're taking visual footage too.'
R.Tayyip Erdogan: 'It's probably true. We've just done some things at
the Istanbul police headquarters.'

China Hosts Syrian Foreign Minister

China stands ready to promote the peace process, Wang said, while Moallem promised that the Syrian government “delegation will be ready as soon as we receive a list of the opposition delegation.” He added, “We hope that this dialogue will be successful to help us in having a national unity government.”

A negotiated peace seems a remote hope, after over four years of vicious fighting sparked by a brutal crackdown on pro-democracy protests in March 2011. Both the Syrian government and the opposition have been accused of committing war crimes during the conflict, with Damascus in particular coming under international criticism for using chemical weapons on civilians. Roughly 300,000 people have been killed in the civil war, with another four million refugees seeking shelter in other states.

Wang also announced on Thursday that China will provide 40 million renminbi ($6.17 million) in humanitarian assistance to Syria. That mostly serves to emphasize how understated China’s role in the Syria crisis has been to date. For comparison, the United States promised $419 million in humanitarian aid for the Syrian crisis in September, bringing its total contributions to a whopping $4.5 billion. China itself has done far more in other areas of the world; for example, Beijing donated money and goods worth over $110 million to African countries suffering from the Ebola outbreak in 2014 and 2015.

So we have some mixed signals coming out of Beijing. On one hand, inviting the Syrian foreign minister to discuss the peace process so soon after the UN Security Council resolution passed shows an initiative that’s been missing from China’s response to the crisis. On the other hand, the amount of aid reflects the existing reality: that Beijing simply isn’t willing to become overly invested in this particular hot spot. Wang continued to hedge Beijing’s potential role with the caveat that China would help “to the best of its abilities,” and declined to give any specifics on how China might assist in the fight against Islamic State (which has carved up portions of Syrian territory).

The planned visit from the Syrian opposition will be the next step in China’s tentative steps into the Syria mess. When that will be, who will be invited, or even which opposition groups will be represented are still to be determined. The UN-mediated peace talks, meanwhile, are set to open in January in Geneva.

China looks to mediate Syria's civil war
By Wang Qingyun (chinadaily.com.cn)Updated: 2016-01-07 22:50

Foreign minister Wang Yi urged opposition parties in Syria to participate in peace dialogues and negotiations without any preconditions when he met with a leader from the Syrian opposition force in Beijing on Thursday.

The meeting with President of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces Alptekin Hocaoglu came just two weeks after Beijing hosted the Syrian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem.

Observers see Beijing’s engagement with both the Syrian government and the oppositions as a more active mediation role for conflict issues in the Middle East.

A civil war broke out five years ago in the oil-rich country and has since turned the nation into a war-torn land with increasing terrorism forces.

The UN Security Council unanimously agreed on a resolution last month, which calls for Syria peace talks to begin in early January.

It also calls for a nationwide cease-fire in Syria to come into effect "as soon as the representatives of the Syrian government and the opposition have begun initial steps towards a political transition under UN auspices".

While meeting with Alptekin Hocaoglu, Wang urged opposition parties in Syria to support the UN’s peace effort and "participate in relevant talks and negotiations without preconditions".

As a representative of the Syrian opposition parties, the National Coalition can adopt measures that are more positive to help bring a ceasefire and coordinate with the UN’s efforts, Wang said.

China has been pushing for peace and dialogues in Middle East issues, insisting that the primary judgment to solving those problems focuses on whether it will bring peace and happiness for the people there, Wang said, adding that China will continue to offer more humanitarian aid for Syria.

Alptekin Hocaoglu arrived in Beijing on Tuesday for a four-day visit.

He was quoted in a Foreign Ministry press statement saying that his coalition is ready to participate in the UN-led dialogue without any precondition, and advocate that the Syria government and oppositions should take measures to build trust gradually, and solve all problems through dialogue and negotiation.

He said he hopes China will play a bigger role in pushing for the political solution of the Syrian issue.

China has actively participated in international mediations to draw opposition parties in Syria to the negotiating table ever since the civil war broke out five years ago.

China announced that it would extend an additional 40 million yuan ($6.06 million) in humanitarian aid to Syria while hosting visiting Syrian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem, who arrived in December.
