We all know Cold war ended with USSR disintegrating into several nations, the US becoming the sole super power and the historical breaking up of the Berlin Wall. The communists lost the war which had it's moments which took the world near to nuclear war and complete annihilation on several occasions. The cold war though now a part of history is full of conspiracy theories as well. Who really killed Kennedy, who killed Salvador allande of Chile. The sudden death of Lal bahadur shashtri and assassination of Zia ul haq remain mystery till today. During the period of 1947 to 1991 the world got
divided into two blocks. The first led by US and the second by USSR. India though claimed non alignment was somewhat tilted towards socialism and USSR. After the end of the war Russia was no longer the power that could stop US from doing what it deemed the right thing to do to serve it's national interests. This slowly led to India coming closer to USA all though there are several other reasons that can be attributed to this gradual shift. The after Cold war period also saw rise of China which has slowly become an economic giant that has started influencing countries that have been traditionaly aligned to US as result of it's economic clout. China is still years away from posing a serious challenge to US but the ominous signs are already there.
Now this is where things get interesting. The world politics is shifting towards right wing ideology. The coming into power of leaders like Trump, Theresa Mae and Narendra modi has made geopolitics interesting. The recent escalation of Tiff between US and Korea reminded many of Cuban missile crisis. At the same time the border dispute between India and China is showing potential to escalate into a full blown war.
What made me post this new thread is to have an open discussion about the emerging scenario where a power tussle is becoming more and more visible between the world powers. Each trying to safeguard it's own turf. I hope the knowledgeable members can give inputs and compare the various scenarios happening today with what happened during Cold war. I am becoming more and more certain that a geopolitical game more than what we are able to comprehend right now is being played. India, this time is a major player.

Trump calls India to play a bigger role. Thus making it clear that in the war against terror (read the cold war) there are no bench sitters. This new policy of openly calling Pakistan safe haven of terrorists, can also be a result of bargain that modi and Trump might have reached in lieu of standing against China and being counter to it, openly.
