Right now, there is no official news that this ship has some relationship with Varyag, however this ship do matter with the first AC.

it is known that PLAN is lacking the experience in the operation with AC, and Varyag will play the training role in the near future. In order to prompt the training progress and make two or three groups of crews ready for the indigenous AC coming in five years, the ship88 was build. When one groups of crews is training in Varyag, the rest crews are resting in ship88.

I hope these information is helpful for you ---indian_sukhoi---
.

There are some more pictures of this ship below.

Also the DDG113 has already done it`s update and back to PLAN

Wait a minute! Is this a cruise ship or a battle ship? Does it have any missiles or was it just meant to carry the PLAN,PLA,PLAAF Generals for a free trip across the ocean in luxury?

this is what i got when i google 'ship 885'
.
Qinghaihu (885, NY953) Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment Ship - SinoDefence.com
.
Qingaihu (hull No.885) was an ex-Soviet Navy Komandarn Fedko class replenishment oiler Vladimir Peregudov built by the Kherson Shipyard in Ukraine. The construction work was stopped after the Soviet Union broke up in 1991.
The unfinished hull was bought by the PRC in 1996. After receiving outfitting at the Dalian Shipyard, the vessel joined service with the PLA Navy South Sea Fleet as a replenishment ship.
The vessel was originally named Nanyun 953, and later Nancan (hull No. 885). In 2004, the vessel was renamed Qinghaihu, after the Qinghaihu lake in Qinghai Province.
Based on a merchant tanker design, Qinghaihu is the largest vessel in service with the PLA Navy, with a full displacement of 37,000 tonne
.
The vessel carries 9,630 tonnes fuel and other supplies. There are six cranes, four oil refuelling stations, and two stores stations, capable of replenishing three vessels simultaneously.
The cranes on the front are also capable ofanchoring zone supplies. There is no arm installed on the
vessel.
The vessel is fitted with a flight deck and a hanger at stern, which can accommodate one Z-8-size helicopter. This gives the ship an enhanced capability to re-supply warships in a task group
by vertical replenishment (VERTREP).
which involves using helicopters to ferry supplies from ship to ship. VERTREP may be used to speed up the process of replenishing a ship on one of the RAS rigs, or to re-store another vessel that does not need to take fuel onboard.
The vessel is powered by a 116,000hp Burmeister & Wain diesel, giving a maximum speed of 16 knots.

for ---Godless-Kafir--- sorry i forget to quote your reply

i think call it as a logistics ship will be more proper for the reason that this ship will not go anywhere alone.

it is supposed that this ship will company the Varyag in the training process. The ship88 have different rooms for ordinary soldiers and generals, as a common sense, the general`s room will definitely more comfortable than the common ones.

meanwhile, this ship will be useful in the evacuation and some disaster such as earthquake and tsunami.

the biggest gainer from soviet break-up is PRC, they get everything that russians made after years of hardwork. sukhois, ACs and anything you can think of. they paid Ex-soviet agencies huge sum and bought these fancy weaponry. but india sticked to stupid morality, paid russians the money to develop what was left undeveloped and then SELL it to india later on.

Let's assume one CA battle group need 10,000 person, but if China need train up 20,000 person together. how should they do? bring all, train together, no enough cooks ,beds, shower nozzles?
easy, make a cruise accompany. at their spare time, they can play baseket ball ,raising pigs even fiishing because the cruise may install some trawlnets.
Every army has traditon, this is PLA's.
they should also hire some Indian Navy veterans. they have good experience to be a good trainers.
