The performance of India’s first domestic attack nuclear submarine closes to the Chinese Han-class 091

Dec 21 reported Gcreport site, to ensure that military development and economic and political development go hand in hand, and not lag behind in terms of their submarine fleet neighbors, the Indian government has decided to present the basis of 14 submarines, and then concentrate on the construction of New diesel-electric submarines. India will cooperate with the French company DCNS, the construction of 12 two batches "Scorpene" class submarines. In addition, India also continued to expand its nuclear submarine fleet. As India’s domestic nuclear attack submarine (SSN) will soon be put into operation, the Delhi government will be able to shrink the current Indian and Chinese Type 091 submarines, the "Han" class submarines, the gap between the order at the same level with China and India, and even have the opportunity to deploy faster and better than the Chinese attack submarine, the submarine’s future than China, India, updates and more capable submarines.

Reported that the world still pay attention to India, and it is regarded as one of Asia will gradually grow into a strong participant in the international community in the country. Over the years, India has been committed to active development to ensure its military development with its economic and political development go hand in hand. For this reason, the Indian fleet over the next decade may be shaping international relations play an important role in the process. In addition, the surface fleet in the development of capacity at the same time, India did not forget to strengthen the capacity of its submarine fleet, and the New Delhi government seems to determine a clear objective and realistic way to achieve those goals.

Currently, the Indian Navy maintains a team composed of Russian and German submarines submarine fleet, but compared to its neighbors submarines, they do not have the technical advantage. However, India has begun to French "Scorpene" submarine as a model, production of new diesel-electric submarines. India will help the company DCNS in France, the production of these submarines. In this way, the Indian shipyards will be able to acquire the necessary technology and skills, which have produced in the future completely the ability of these advanced submarines. The new submarines and ballistic missile submarines under construction, and attack submarines together, it can be competitive in India’s submarine fleet to enable them to act in the Indian Ocean, when necessary, even to the South China Sea in the far place to take action.

Reported that the current submarine fleet in India by the 10 Russian "Kilo" class and four German Type 209 submarine components. December 1, India has a Russian old retired "Foxtrot" class submarines. It should be noted that, although this submarine fleet was given a perfect way to perform the task, but with Indian neighbors in the construction or purchase of new submarines are being compared to India, these submarines are slightly out of date. To keep pace in these countries, and has a competitive fleet, the modernization of the submarine fleet, the Indian Navy will be an important issue.

Indeed, India has been investing in the construction of new submarines. In addition to plans to build a nuclear submarine fleet, India now has focused on the construction of a new diesel-electric submarines to replace the front with its offer to the Indian Navy is now used by submarines. The objective of the project include the construction of 12 two batches French "Scorpene" class of modern submarines, each consisting of the construction of six. At present, India is working with the French company DCNS for the joint construction project. Advantage of this collaboration is the ability to use the opportunity to the Indian Navy (Naval Shipyard in particular) the transfer of modern technology. As a gradually rising powers, India recognized the need to create their own warships and important. However, as in the past has been the purchase of submarines from other countries, so India did not create the experience of the submarine. The companies with DCNS, India will be able to quickly gain experience in the construction of submarines.

Reported that "no air-independent propulsion" is through the cooperation with French company DCNS one of the technologies into the Indian Navy. This technology enables the diesel-electric submarines remain submerged for three weeks. At present, India is building the first "Scorpene" class submarines of the fifth and sixth submarines have adopted the technology. The second batch of six submarines will also use this technology, but the first four submarines during the first scheduled maintenance will be used when such technology. With air independent propulsion technology of the modern "Scorpene" class submarines for India to provide a decent fleet can be comparable with other countries of the submarine fleet.

India’s first nuclear attack submarine’s performance closes to the Chinese Han-class 091
Of course, people want to know, there are 14 in the normal operation of the submarine’s now focus on India’s why most of the construction of new submarines. First, India’s number of neighbors is provided to the respective naval modern submarines. Among them, Malaysia and Indonesia already have a modern "Scorpene" class submarines. As the main actors on the Indian Ocean, India in order to keep this position to not lag behind other countries.

Second, China has continued to improve its existing mainly by the modern fleet of diesel-electric submarines. As rivals, India, no other can respond to this development, and ensure that when China decided to deploy submarines to the Indian Ocean, India can have a powerful submarine fleet.

Thirdly, as a modern navy emerging countries, India needs to have the ability to build their own submarines, and India does not yet have this capability. This was also a large number of purchases from other countries, India, the reasons for the submarine. However, through cooperation with the French company DCNS India to ensure that limited time to perform such a task the current level of technology and its amendments by France.

Reported that, in addition to diesel-electric submarines, India has also continued to expand its nuclear submarine fleet. Now, India already has the first fleet ballistic missile submarines – "annihilating" number. India’s goal is to eventually fielded six of the ballistic missile nuclear submarines. It is noteworthy that, although the main purpose of deterrence, ballistic missile submarines in Pakistan, but if necessary, India will likely deploy them to far away to the South China Sea region. In addition, India will continue to build their own attack submarine fleet. 2011, India will receive Russian "Akula II" class "Cheetah" (Nerpa) nuclear submarine. The submarine will be used to provide training to the Indian crew members, and gain experience, until the Indian fielding their own attack submarine.

Given that India can build its own ballistic missile submarines, and its own domestic nuclear attack submarines will soon be put into operation, the Delhi government will be able to reduce the current Indian and Chinese Type 091 submarines, the "Han" class submarine gap. "Han" class submarine is the first attempt to build nuclear attack submarines, so the class submarine technology used is outdated and Western modern attack submarines, the Chinese "Han" class submarines noisy. Can be assumed that India’s first attack submarine level of performance will be with the "Han" class submarines, like the performance. However, since China has not yet begun new version of "Han" class submarines of the related work, so in the field of nuclear attack submarines, India and China will be able to at the same level. And this even make India the opportunity to deploy faster and better than the Chinese attack submarines, submarines in India than China of the future updates and more capable submarines.

It looks as if it was translated directly from Chinese to English

    The comparison is stupid because:

    1. Han class doesn't carry ballistic missiles

Type 091 submarine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Even reading that text seemed too painful - whichever original language it was, not many valid points there anyway.

Yet, our Arihant is shrouded in mystery. I am dying to see a picture of that submarine, even if it is a glimpse of the sail.

I have not doubt its better than the HAN class.
With significant Russian input it should fare well. But all too little is known.
The question i'd like to know is, is this an attack submarine or SSBN? Or is it capable of undertaking both assignments?
