Some other country has beaten China in the game of 'largest in the world' etc.

It is Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard on Geoje Island in South Korea that has stolen the march and South Korea is a leader in ship building.

We just wait with bated breath when China will steal the honours.

well, we will see one bigger LNG ship will laugh at January.
PS. I do not think you will see it on western media.

Check the total tons of commercial ships built by China and korea in 2014 and the coming orders.

BTW, we do not need compare China's warship building in 2014 with any other country (or the rest of world).

Check the size of the countries and resources they have. Does S Korea have any natural resources that is worth note?

China surely under performs given her size, economy and manpower.

Are you aware of the tonnage of this South Korea ship?

    Are you afflicted with dementia?

    You gave the tonnage.

What will be built has not been built. That is in the future tense. Still not there to be seen.

The reports states - The largest ship the world has ever seen. Present Tense.

    Quit being a Quickgun Murugan.

Read and then post your reply.

You give the tonnage and then you ask me if I know the tonnage!:frusty:

I hope you understand the difference between an comercial ship and coast guard ship.

The position of largest commercial vessel changes in weeks, but the position of largest coast guard ship will stay for a long time.

A ship is a ship, commercial or military,

So, where is the big deal.

Prove that the Coast Guard ship of China is bigger than this South Korean ship.

That is all that is required to prove which ship is bigger.

Such a simple thing to do.

What has lower standard got to do with the size?

Let me take you through understanding what is the meaning of 'largest'.

Largest means in the English Language - Of greater than average size, extent, quantity, or amount; big.

The largest ship the world has ever seen means that it is the BIGGEST ship the world has so far seen.

It does not qualify it in any way - military, civil, standard or whatever.

    最大 Got it?

I will still have a LARGE stone.

And you will continue to have a tiny stone called diamond.

Why are you so hellbent to prove something that alludes your comprehension of the English language?

Can't agree with that. I have no problem imagining a distance or length of 488 m. It might be that this distance or length quoted in this BBC article is difficult to imagine for metric-challenged Britons.
