British Women Being Used by Islamic State to Incite Terror in UK: Report

London: A group of 30 British women who travelled to Syria to join the Islamic State (IS) have been encouraging other women in the UK to carry out terror attacks back home, overturning the belief that female jihadists are quite and passive, researchers in London have found. The International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation (ICSR) at King's College London has uncovered the group of British women in Northern Syria by monitoring their social media accounts, the 'Observer' newspaper reported. Researchers believe the British female jihadists have been actively recruiting new members of IS and encouraging the beheading of Westerners and applauding the bloodshed in Paris. It overturns the general view that women travelling to IS strongholds to become loyal and supportive jihadi brides are generally quiet and passive members of the terrorist group, the newspaper reported.According to ICSR, which has a database of around 70 women it is tracking in total, there was a spike of activity online following the 'Charlie Hebdo' shootings in France, which the British women were seen applauding. Melanie Smith, a research fellow at ICSR and the woman in charge of ICSR's Female Foreign Fighters database, said the British women have been telling people at home, who cannot leave their family or afford to get to Syria to join IS, to carry out attacks in the UK instead."While they might not have the same military training, you can see women online being frustrated about the fact they can't fight and they suggest to each other that they could do something else," she said.

Captured 'Bangladesh coordinator' of IS claims militants received training in Pak

The "Bangladesh coordinator" of the Islamic State (IS), Mohammad Sakhawatul Kabir, who was captured by Bangladeshi police in Dhaka yesterday along with three other suspected members, has reportedly revealed that they had trained in Pakistan, police said. Shaikh Nazmul Alam, deputy police commissioner with Dhaka's detective and criminal intelligence division, said that they were found carrying a large number of leaflets related to militancy for training, a laptop and other materials, reported the Dawn. They were arrested by police from Jatrabari and Khilkhet areas of Dhaka. Alam said that Kabir also revealed that the terror cell he ran from Dhaka was planning to collect funds and weapons for attacks on Bangladesh government targets. Reports of the IS making inroads into South Asia have raised concerns but it remains unclear if the militants organizing terror cell under the name of the IS were acting on their own or as part of a centralised initiative coming out of the Middle East.

US congratulates Kurds over Kobane as Turkey slams celebrations
The United States pledged to continue military and humanitarian assistance to the Kurdish city of Kobane in Syria, after Kurdish forces defeated the Islamic State (known as ISIS or ISIL) following a four-month siege.

"We congratulate its (Kobane's) brave defenders," US State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki said in a briefing to reporters, referring to the Kurdish forces that have been fighting there.

"We'll continue to support them as we look to the coming weeks ahead. This is an important step in the first phase of a long-term campaign to degrade and ultimately defeat ISIL, because of the strategic value ISIL places on Kobani," she said. "As there are humanitarian needs, whether it's in Kobane and other places, I expect that we will contribute -- continue to be major contributors," she added.

Washington assisted Kurdish Peshmerga forces from the Kurdistan Region and the People's Protection Units (YPG) in Syria with weapons and ammunitions. It also has continued an air campaign that helped the Kurds eject ISIS out of the town after four months of fighting.

The renewed US commitment came as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan slammed the bombardment of the town by the international coalition and criticized Kurds for celebrating their victory over ISIS.

"Now, they (Kurds) are dancing. What happened? ISIS was ousted from there. Okay. But who will repair the places that were bombarded? Who will repair those demolished places? No one thinks of the future. Will the 200,000 who left be able to return?" Erdogan was quoted as saying by the Today's Zaman daily.

He also repeated his earlier complaints about the West ignoring the Syrian city of Aleppo.

"When it is about Kobane, the whole world stands up and cooperates. Those who fled Kobane came to us -- 200,000 people. We tell them about Aleppo, nobody listens; 1.2 million people live there. There is economy, history and culture (there). Why aren't you interested?" he asked rhetorically.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon said the airstrikes had been effective against ISIS in Kobane, stressing that a "reliable partner" on the ground is key to defeating ISIS.

"I don't think there was a single tipping point. I think the airstrikes helped a lot. It helped when we had -- and we talked about this -- had a reliable partner on the ground in there who could help us fine tune those strikes. That was certainly an important moment, said Pentagon Press Secretary Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby. "What Kobane shows is that you do have to have reliable partners on the ground," he added.

Kirby predicted that the airstrikes against ISIS would continue: "We will continue to strike these guys when and where they present themselves."

Millions of Kurds across the Middle East have been celebrating the liberation of Koabne by dancing and singing in major Kurdish cities and towns.

ISMAILIA, Egypt — Islamic State's Egypt wing claimed responsibility for a series of attacks that killed at least 27 on Thursday in some of the worst anti-state violence in months, after commemorations around the anniversary of the 2011 uprising turned deadly this week.

Egypt's government faces an Islamist insurgency based in Sinai and growing discontent with what critics perceive as heavy handed security tactics.

A series of tweets from the Sinai Province's Twitter account claimed responsibility for each of the four attacks that took place in North Sinai and Suez provinces within hours of one another on Thursday night.

Beirut: Members of the Islamic State group have acknowledged for the first time that they were defeated in the Syrian town of Kobane. In a video released by the pro-IS Aamaq News Agency on Friday, two fighters said airstrikes by the US-led coalition were the main reason why they were forced to withdraw from Kobane. On Monday, activists and Kurdish officials said the town was cleared of IS fighters, who once held nearly half of the town. The failure to capture Kobane was a major blow to the extremists, whose hopes for an easy victory dissolved into a costly siege under withering airstrikes by coalition forces and an assault by Kurdish militiamen.

Jordan executes two prisoners after IS killing of pilot

A Jordanian government spokesman says Jordan has executed two prisoners, including a would-be female suicide bomber from al-Qaeda. The executions at dawn today came just hours after Islamic State militants released a video that purportedly showed a captured Jordanian fighter pilot being burned alive in a cage. Jordan vowed a swift and lethal response. Government spokesman Mohammed al-Momani said that two prisoners, Sajida al-Rishawi and Ziad al-Karbouli, were executed early today. Al-Rishawi has been on death row for her role in a triple hotel bombing in the Jordanian capital Amman in 2005 that killed dozens.

The White House cannot confirm early reports claiming that US and Israeli military advisors were allegedly arrested while aiding the Islamic State in Iraq.

Iran's Tasnim News Agency reported earlier that Iraqi counter-terrorism forces arrested four foreign military advisors from the United States and Israel, who were allegedly aiding the IS.

The advisors were reportedly captured in an operation codenamed "The Sting of a Scorpion" in a headquarters from where the IS organized its military operations in Iraq's Northern Province of Nineveh.

The detained advisors have been transferred to Baghdad, according to the report.

ISIL is Secret American Army in Middle East – US Historian

US historian Webster Tarpley says that the United States created the Islamic State and uses jihadists as its secret army to destabilize the Middle East.
The advance of the Islamic State (IS) Sunni jihadist group in North Africa poses a real threat to the national security of Spain, the country's Foreign Minister said.

The Islamic State is a secret army of the United States and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, a leader of the terrorist group, is a close friend of US Senator John McCain, says US historian Webster Tarpley, according to Iranian News Agency IRNA.
