The Most Violent Cities In The World - Business Insider

Drug trafficking, gang wars, political instability, corruption, and poverty have combined to make Latin America by far the most homicidal region of the world.

The region has 40% of the world's murders, despite having only 8 percent of the population, according to the U.N.

The highest murder rate of all is in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, with 169 homicides per 100,000 people, according to a study published earlier this year by Mexico's Citizens' Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice. The ranking is based on 2012 data, except for San Pedro Sula and Distrito Central in Honduras, where authorities would not cooperate and 2011 data was used.

The study does not count deaths in a war zone or cities where data was not available.

Forty-one of the top 50 dangerous cities are located in Latin America. U.S. cities also made the list, lead by New Orleans at 17th, along with Detroit, St. Louis, Baltimore, and Oakland.

What about Karachi, Peshawar and other paki cities where people die in dozens. Even Iraq is not behind. Syria is another example where 100000 people have died in recent past!

Reason, below:
Data is freely available for pakistan, iraq, iran etc......It's clever ommition!

Hence, this rating is inconclusive and not accurate!

I can also create a list of the richest nations in the world, ommiting all the deleloped nations and conclude that pakistan the beggar nation is the richest nation!

I was about to ask this question ! How come there's no mention of Muslim countries like Pak, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Egypt, Iraq and Muslim dominated African nations ?

They are all warzones! :D These researchers were probably too scared to goto pakistan, or perhaps they consider Pakistan to be a warzone too!

I think the intention of the report is to give some sense of everyday life and the chance to get murdered in countries that are not affected by war and/or terrorist insurgency.

As for Pakistan: it is a terrorist nation and few really care.

List of countries by intentional homicide rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Now, what is much more interesting is that: almost all cities mentioned in the report (in the OP) have majority (or largest) ethnic as either Hispanic or Black.

Brazil most dangerous than Pukestan, which suffers with terrorism, or Colombia and Mexico, which suffers with drug traffic??

What criteria had been utilised?? Violence in Brazil was exaggerated.
