Gurdaspur attack details cannot be given at this stage, says Rajiv Pratap Rudy

NEW DELHI: Terming the suspected terror attack in Gurdaspur as a "very serious issue", Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy today said no details can be given at this stage as the operation against perpetrators of the attack is still on.

"Operations are still on. So we can't give details. But many MPs requested that the status be given in Parliament. The MPs have given a notice so that they be made aware of the situation," Rudy said.

Don't worry your little brain regarding ammo shortage in IA.

There is still enough to go around and do wonderful things and more importantly defend territorial integrity against treacherous neighbours.
Sir, that little brain says......what else one can get when someone consider treacherous neighbours as allies.

Friendly neighbour trying to revive isugency in Punjab. Lets see if Doval will repay them in kind.

Looks like two decades of peace had left Punjab police lethargic.

Guys, relax it's easy to bomb the police station and end it in seconds. May be they are trying to catch a few alive. Let the army deal with it and let's trust their professionalism and judgement. There are no brownie points to be scored for finishing the op in one hour.

The cream of the Punjab Police are on VIP Protection duty. That is another problem.

Please do not insult Punjab Police, they have lost 3 people. The response of Punjab Police was quite swift unlike Mumbai, considering they havent used their anti terror skills for quite some time. I am happy to note that SWAT of police reached their on spot after 3 hrs. Equipment wise good, Police was armed with Ak 47 and good ol' S.L.R. They have managed to kill two and have isolated them in an abandoned building. My concern is lack of BPJ among policemen. And S.P who was unfortunately killed while directing operations from front, may have been repeat of a moment of carelessness, just like in Shaheed Karkare case.

Officers have to lead from front. One possible reason for the SP's death.

Also, Mumbai police had no precedent but same cannot be said of Punjab police.

Had doubts that Pak will do some mischief: SAD

New Delhi: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Naresh Gujralon Monday said that the Punjab Government had a doubt that Pakistan will do something mischievous, adding that the state government will deal with terrorism in a strict manner.

"The intelligence inputs say that we need to be alert as something might happen, but it does not tell when and where a particular incident is going to happen...We had a doubt that Pakistan will do some mischief, we did not know where it will happen. I want to assure you that our government will with terrorism in a strict manner," said Gujral.

One militant has been killed while a Punjab Special Service Group (SSG) jawan has sustained injuries in the ongoing operation at Dina Nagar Police Station in Punjab's border district Gurdaspur.

Security has been enhanced across Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the Gurdaspurterror attack, which has so far claimed the lives of 10 people, including six civilians.

Security has also been beefed up at the North and South Block.

Meanwhile, the Special Forces team has reached the location of the terror attack , which has been cordoned off.
