Telangana: Centre to woo Seemandhra with new capital, financial package

Government is likely to woo the Seemandhra region with special financial package for its all-round development and help build a new capital with modern amenities but is not in a mood to consider any change in the status of Hyderabad or make it a Union Territory.
The GoM, set up to deal with issues concerning bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and which held its first meeting today, will try its best to assuage the feelings of Seemandhra region following the decision to create Telangana and offer a sizeable financial package for the all-round development of coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema, highly-placed sources said.

The central government will help the Seemandhra region to build a new capital but is unlikely to change the status of Hyderabad or make it a Union Territory as it would create more problem in Telangana region.

The Union Cabinet on October 3 had decided that Hyderabad will be joint capital of the two states for 10 years.

During its deliberations, the GoM will elicit response from ministries of Water Resources, Power, Finance, Road Transport and a few others on issues concerning division of assets, sources said.

The GoM has no plan to visit Andhra Pradesh.

The ministerial panel will look into the sharing of river water, irrigation resources and other natural resources, especially coal, water, oil and gas between the two states and also inter-se with other states, including the declaration of Polavaram Irrigation Project as a national project.

Decisions will also be taken by GoM on issues arising on account of distribution of assets, public finance, public corporations and liabilities between the two states.

Sources said the GoM will meet again on October 19 which is a clear indication that it was trying to expedite the process of creation of Telangana, notwithstanding protests in Seemandhra region.

Yesterday, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, who heads of the GoM, had ruled out going back on the decision to create Telangana.

"I do not think there is any possibility of going back to the decision to create Telangana," he said.

The Centre is promising a new capital and all help.

The GOM or the ministerial panel will look into the sharing of river water, irrigation resources and other natural resources, especially coal, water, oil and gas between the two states and also inter-se with other states, including the declaration of Polavaram Irrigation Project as a national project.

Decisions will also be taken by GoM on issues arising on account of distribution of assets, public finance, public corporations and liabilities between the two states.

Will this calm the people of Seemandhara?

Re: Telangana:Centre to woo Seemandhra with new capital, financial pac

first of all this is only a news leak not a firm commitment from the government.even if they are committed for building a good capital what will it be like??

we have seen previously the commitment of central government to give thousands of crores to chhattisgarh for building a new capital, but as on date no more than 1500 crores is released by the government.

even if the government is ready to announce a lumpsum amount, there is no guarantee that money will be released.some say that money thats going to be released at the order of 50000 crore rupees.

if you look into news related to IT development region in hyderabad, central government announced to invest a 2 lakh crore investment along with an interconnecting metro, which will eventually give jobs to an extent of whopping 70 lakhs.even the amount is going to be spent over 25 years.their commitment regarding Hyderabad/telangana is virtually non existent towards seemandhra.

why this stepmother attitude?what wrong have the people done here??

    just for sake of votes.

few weeks back they said antony committee will visit seemandhra, few days back they said gom will visit, now they are saying that no visit from gom to seemandhra.
what message does they want to convey??

lets assume ,even if even if a big city is constructed by creating necessary infrastructure, how many years will it take to reach the level of hyderabad???
an experienced charted accountant openly said that it will take an investment of 30 lakh crores, and 30 years to construct a city to extent of Hyderabad.

can center provide such support and commitment-no

the seemandhra region has no industries or business centers to have a good revenue.with out a city like hyderabad and its revenue its even not possible to pay the salaries of government employees.

thats the reason why few politicians asked the center for tax exemptions and central support till this region develops, still which is not being endorsed by the congress.

regarding sharing of water-the hell will break lose in future
what the congress government is saying are all lies.water sharing in between the three regions is practically a troublesome and most problematic for rayalaseema people.how will they solve their problem?no way.

the central congress used an innovative method to decrease the tensions,by announcing that they will look into absorbing rtc in to the government they will win more votes in telangana and asked rtc to give up strike.yet no firm commitment from government regarding absorption of rtc.why?because they think that there will not be another series of strike from rtc until the decision is given in the favour of rtc.

right now seemandhra has calmed down to fight again on another day,to fight a threat against its very existence, the 2014 general elections-the dooms day for congress.
@Ray i personally believe even the words of a prostitute but never from leaders of congress.

I don't think even people of Andhra Pradesh themselves clearly know what they want.

They don't want the state bifurcated that is their stance, what center is trying to do is woo them by giving freebies. The people in Seemandhra have lost hope on their politicians as they realized they got played by them, now the common people are protesting and all the politicians are in a huddle uncertain of their political future.
