Tehri bypoll: Vijay Bahuguna's son defeated, BJP wins with heavy majority Dehradun: The Congress on Saturday received a major drubbing in the Tehri Lok Sabha bypoll in Uttarakhand. The party lost the Lok Sabha seat, recently vacated by Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna, to Bharatiya Janata Party's Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah. She defeated Vijay Bahuguna's son Saket with more than 18,000 votes, Election Commission said. Issues like corruption, price rise and economic reforms seemed to have hit the Congress badly. The results of the Tehri bypoll reflect the larger sentiment against the Congress in the hills. And with the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections around the corner, it doesn't seem to be a good signal for the Congress party.
