Fantastic video absolutely must see (Published in 2016)...analysis from so called Russian expert on various aspects of 5 th gen fighter. Throwing light on why F-35 is not a sitting turkey, where does T-50 stands ..some sort of in-house capability analysis of Russia Vs america in Aircrafts /avionics and weapons. He sounds logical and somewhat informed on the topics he spoke but i am just a layman.

People who have already seen this can ignore, new Joiners for sure should watch as it may answer some of their questions.

@gadeshi is this person a reasonable analyst ?

PAK FA sports a 101KS-U missile approach warning system ( MAWS ) which is part of the 101KS Atoll electro-optical (EO) system ,against infra-red homing missiles. It uses ultraviolet technology and can operate under all weather conditions . It operates in solar blind UV spectral wavelength region and therefore has no natural (sun) false alarms. It is used to provide directional information of the incoming guided missile to be able to deploy decoy after decision making, and also to maneuver. It also helps to swing 101KS-O directed infrared energy counter measure (DIRCM) in action against the incoming missile.

There might be two points here,
a) How old is Su-27? A Generation old, and maybe 2 decades? Many most are grey haired and some have dementia, but fortunately, they can still differentiate between 4th gen and 5th Gen plane. They know the attributes and they design with those attributes,

b) on other hand, the people behind the "success" of Rafale are the ones behind the "success" of Mirage 2000 and also Mirage III. And it seems most are retarded, because everyone knows that Rafale is a 4th Gen plane, but due to the NATIONAL NEED OF FRANCE to export the expensive yet ineffective plane they have started to call it 5th Gen. BTW if Canada needs a plane as "excellent" as Rafale, they can always buy Predator drones from USA. Similarly effective (able to take down targets in enemy airspace which do not have air defence or air power) and guess what, Predator drones are much cheaper and get the job done..

Item-30 engine specimens are under flight tests on T-10M-10 (#710) flying lab/testbed within 2 months.
All the ground and flight tests go in parallel.
So, first T-50 (10 or 11?) flight with new engines is quite possible in December 2017/January 2018.

Link please?
Even if so, it will not be a critical delay.
And official date is December 2017 anyway.

So Modi & Putin met, they both even hugged, but nothing new on FGFA deal.

Hmnn.

Looks like Russia is not ready to change its mentality of ToT and Indian Baniya as always tough on negotiations.

Even if they do, by the time India gets these FGFA fighters it will be obsolete and Russia will sell China similar fighters before giving them to India. That has always been the case. Thus, India will not have any strategic advantage buying FGFA. But India will be helping Russian friends financially leading to deeper bond and enhanced friendship between the two countries.

This is the major issue due to which Indian side demanded for export rights.

There is nothing like friendship between two countries. Any two or more countries help each other to fulfill their personal national interests.
It's all about business.

Russian-Indian fighter to be in no way inferior to Russia’s PAK FA

Monday June 19, 2017

Russian-Indian fifth generation jet FGFA (Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft) will be in no way inferior to the PAK FA plane developed for the Russian Aerospace Force, the chief of the federal service for military-technical cooperation, Dmitry Shugayev, told the media on Monday. "India, alongside Russia, will obtain not just know-how, but the copyright to a newly-designed military product. In other words, if the contract is signed and the inter-government agreement is acted on - and this is precisely what we are striving for - this plane will be in no way inferior to our PAK FA," Shugayev said at the Le Bourget show. "Onboard equipment may be different, for instance, of India’s own manufacture. This plane will be adjusted to the needs of the Indian market. The parameters will not be inferior to the national product in use in Russia. It will be reconfigured to suit the customer’s needs," he added. No other country, Shugayev said, was prepared to share such sensitive technologies with India. The FGFA agreement was signed in 2007. At the beginning of May a source at India’s Defense Ministry told the PTI news agency the contract for designing a detailed project of a new fighter jet would be concluded in the second half of 2017. Russian officials last spring said that Russia fully complied with its liabilities under the project and was waiting for the Indian side to make a decision.

Russian Military Cooperation Service Denies Demands of Extra $7Bln From India
https://sputniknews.com/military/201706191054777522-russia-sukhoi-deliveries-india/
Reports that Moscow demanded an additional $7 billion from Deli for the Sukhoi/HAL Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) joint project are not true, the head of Russia's Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) said Monday.

LE BOURGET (France), (Sputnik) — On May 24, Defense News reported that the Russian side was demanding more than $7 billion as part of India's share in the development of the FGFA, arguing the project will comprise transfer of technology of several high-tech systems.

"These reports are not consistent with the reality. If the contract is signed, FGFA will by on par with our PAK FA," FSMTC Director Dmitry Shugaev said at the Paris Air Show.

He stressed that not a single country in the world, except Russia, has shared "such sensitive" technologies with India.

"India will receive not just an airplane, but the right to its [intellectual] property," he said.
Shugaev stressed that Russia was not talking about downgrading the jet's technical characteristics during negotiations with the Indian side but rather about adapting it for India's needs.

Russian Sukhoi T-50 (PAK FA) is a Russian fifth-generation stealth fighter. It is a single-seat, twin-engine multirole jet fighter designed for air superiority and attack roles. The first flight of the aircraft took place in 2010.

FGFA is based on the PAK FA. In the project, the Russian side is represented by the aircraft manufacturer and the Indian side by Hindustan Aeronautics. The initial FGFA agreement was signed in 2007, the final agreement, which will include the project's financing conditions, is yet to be signed.

Jaitley to visit Russia for talks on fifth-generation aircraft

http://www.thestatesman.com/india/j...-on-fifth-generation-aircraft-1497957823.html

India and Russia are expected to resolve their differences over the cost and work-share issues related to one of their most important defence projects, the co-development and production of the Sukhoi/HAL fifth generation fighter aircraft (FGFA) during Defence Minister Arun Jaitley’s three-day visit to Russia from Wednesday.

An official source in Moscow said Jaitley will co-chair the 17th meeting of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu on Friday.

‘’The meeting will review the entire range of military and military-technical cooperation issues between India and Russia within the framework of the special and privileged partnership between the two countries,’’ the source added.

Jaitley would also co-chair the first meeting of the high level committee on science and technology between the two countries with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin during the visit. This is a newly established committee to discuss cooperation in high technologies.

The meeting will be held on the sidelines of the ‘Technoprom’ exhibition in the city of Novosibirsk. He will also address the main plenary session of ‘Technoprom’, which is a major annual science, technology and innovation exhibition in Russia.

The Defence Minister’s visit comes close on the heels of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to Russia early this month to participate in St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) and hold his annual summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Jaitley’s visit is being considered crucial as negotiations between the two countries over the FGFA have been stuck over a host of issues. Russia is said to be demanding an ‘unaffordable price’ as part of its share in the development of the fighter jet, given that the work-sharing agreement currently under discussions includes the transfer of sensitive Russian defence technology.

India, the source said, was not in a position to pay the huge money being demanded by Russia. Also New Delhi believes that it is co-develop of the aircraft and there is nothing called technology transfer in the project.

In 2007, India and Russia had inked an inter-governmental pact for the FGFA project. In December 2010, India had agreed to pay $295 million towards the preliminary design of the fighter, which is called in India as the 'Perspective Multi-role Fighter' (PMF).

Jaitley is wasting his time. Russia will not part with the stealth technology if they have it. It will take them billions of dollar to come up with a fighter jet like F-35. They want India to be the banker. India simply does not have that kind of money and the fact that India can easily acquire F-35s from US. In addition, China will acquire T-50/FGFA long before India gets them from Russia.

PAK FA is estimated to cost $100 million per unit, and that's an optimistic projection. That price will most definitely be higher for the Indian configuration due to special requirements of the FGFA.

F-35 at present already costs only $85 Million which is expected to go down even further to $70-75 Million by 2020. And F-35 is way more advanced in all parameters against PAK FA. Perhaps the only place where PAk FA will win against F-35 is on air show demos.
