Why do F-22 had a smooth skin on it's body and y not on PAK-FA?
T-50-6-2 is only a prototype which polishing is not relevant to its tasks.
Now it is polished and putted with dielectric putty for RCS measurments.
Waiting for the photos.

Latest T-50 Prototype.

So, Russians have started painting engine curves too. Still a long way to go, waiting for pictures of RAM coated proper stealth plane.




Same old straight air intakes and smoky engines. Blunders like these makes you think is Sukhoi really that serious about developing a 5th gen plane?

I am often thinking about Smoky engines of the Russian planes.
There are few points.
American.French Russians are masters in engine making and they have mastered the tech that is there. The American engines are non smoky where as the russians are

One of the logical explanation is that the fuel is not being burnt 100%, so either the engine is not efficient or there are some impurities in the fuel.

The Russians have a reputation for making products with high tolerance, If you compare American or Russian air stations. The American air bases are more like state of the art creations with clean environment. where as the Russian air bases tend to look very messy. with sometimes even scrap lying around.
I feel that to keep the cost of flight cheaper, the Russians are adding cheaper fuel to the mix so that the flight cost per hour is cheaper.

Russia somewhat fooled us with Su 30 mki but this govt wont be fooled,they are looking hard at the documents before signing anything

Just finished watching this interesting documentary ...worth spending 40 minutes of precious time but the video does tell the old established tale of How India order of SU 30 MKI bailed out Sukhoi along with order from China....@Gadeshi absolute must for you to see.

Starting from the end of next year the new Russian Russian T-50 PKFA heavy fighter will have a new engine. Actually the aircraft is powered by a thrust engine to 32,000 l NPO Saturn 117 (AL41F1), a close relative of the 117S (AL41F1S) used on the Su-35S. However a new engine in the category of 40,000 l, 30, is already designated Saturn now maintaining the bench and, indeed, should be ready to go in flight from the end of next year. The goal, according to industrial sources Russian, is complete the development in 2018-2020 with acceptance. Meanwhile, a ninth prototype T-50, out of a total expected when 12, is conducting a series of tests for testing avionics and armament. The intention of the Russian Defense is to give next year a contract at Sukhoi for providing a first batch of low-rate production aircraft to equip a squadron, aircraft that are still propelled by Saturn 117. Some changes also occur on the face of the new weapons that will equip the fighter. The Tactical Missile Corporation (TRV) revealed recently that by next year will complete the development of 6 new weapon systems for the aircraft and that twice as many systems will be developed by 2020. Among these, in-air segment, there are the RVV-MD, initiator at short distances, and the RVV-SD initiator BVR. The RVV-MD features a new Terminal guidance system and greater resistance to jamming. For Terminal homing, the missile has a dual-band IR seeker with a photo-receiver muti-element and digital signal processing. With these innovations, compared to a VYMPEL R-73E missile range may be doubled and angle of 30% increase in research. The RVV-SD, which is a further evolution of RVV-AE currently in service, features an improved aerodynamics, from an emitter with the highest potency and most sensitive radar head. In addition, the software was completely ' reworked ' to get a 35% gain in scope and greater letality against targets by running even of manoeuvres up to a limit of 12 g. In addition to these weapon systems, PAKFA can be armed with the new modular family of air-to-surface missile Kh-38ME, characterized by the adoption of warheads and guidance systems from GLONASS-guided bombs KAB-500SE, already successfully tested in Syria, or with smaller KAB-250LG-E.

This current engine is not going to be used in the final version of the aircraft. Wait for it.

AFAIK, smoke arises from improper mixing of fuel-air resulting in a heterogeneous fuel air mixture.
That means faults in either the atomizer, fuel quality or inadequate turbulence in the combustion chamber.
About this pic though, was it taken during take-off or landing? If so, that could explain why we see that vanishingly light smoke-trail. This would be more of a concern if this smoke trail existed in cruise-power conditions. But then again, this engine is only a temporary one for the Pak FA.

When India purchased Su-30 MKI, it was after an evaluation by IAF.
IAF pilots selected the twin seater Su-27 as base and then came up with other upgrades and avionics as per their choices (Russian NIIP N011M Bars PESA. Israeli LITENING targeting pod, SAGEM Sigma-95 GPS,
Elta EL/M-8222 a self-protection jammer) thus IAF mixed and matched what they wanted. Further Su-30 MKI has both weapons, ability, avionics and range both to hit any target in Pakistan or in southern China, When you compare Rafale, it does not have the range to go as deep into China as Su-30 MKI without sacrificing pylons for extra fuel. Further, Su-30 MKI at one point of time and still is one of the Top 5 planes in the world.
It was not Russia that fooled us rather it was the politicians who ignored many things (and the Russians knew that if paid kickbacks they can milk the proverbial indian cow)
So, in this case it was the politicians who knowingly did it, after all they can read what they sign no? Still believe that MMS signed the coal papers without reading them? Either he is ignorant or a crook, I think its a latter. And he is the BIGGEST ONE, because the govt was apparently under his leadership, How do you feel when you kknow your PM was helpless to take decisions? Seems he was too happy to keep the chair at cost of losing the country

defence minister made it clear that decision on twin engine fighter will not be this year....and it will be done by compitition...

The FGFA project came about following the signing of a Russian-Indian cooperation agreement on October 18, 2007. Both the countries signed the primary contract in December 2010. India has spent $242 million on the primary contract. The Indian Air Force has proposed building an indigenous FGFA called the Advanced Medium Combat Stealth Aircraft (AMCSA), but it still remains at the conceptual stage. Sweden's SAAB has offered to help in the development of AMCSA but the Indian establishment is yet to respond. Meanwhile, China exhibited its fifth generation stealth fighter aircraft J-20 in November this year. The J-20 is expected to provide long range, hard-to-detect strike capacity to the PLA Air Force from 2018 onwards.

RUSSIA’S NEW STEALTH FIGHTER STARTS NEW TEST PHASE

Russia’s T-50 PAKFA fifth-generation stealth fighter is about to undergo flight testing by military pilots for the first time. The Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) said on January 6 that it would take delivery this year of five of the aircraft that have been flight-tested by Sukhoi at the Gromov Flight Research Institute (LII) in Zhukovsky. But the VKS, which since last year has encompassed the Russian Air Force and the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces, made no further mention of any order for production aircraft.
The five T-50s will now be transferred to the Chkalov VKS State Flight Test Centre base No. 929 at Akhtubinsk. Once at the Chkalov center, the aircraft will be put through a two-stage program, “State-Joint Flight Testing,” that allows for military pilots to gradually take over the validation of the aircraft. This joint testing program is in theory the last process that the prototype aircraft would undergo before the go-ahead is given for the T-50 to enter series production.
In the first stage of the program, the industry pilots who have been flying the T-50, which is developed by the state-owned United Aircraft Corp. (UAC) will train a cadre of military pilots to fly the aircraft. In the second stage, flights would be conducted entirely by VKS pilots and validate whether or not the aircraft meets the service’s operational requirement.
Russian defense industry specialists, speaking on condition of anonymity, told AIN that the authorization for the T-50 to enter production need not wait until the final results of the joint state testing program. One said: “The VKS flight-test team could issue a preliminary report stating that the major points of validation have been successfully completed and that production may commence.” He noted that in some previous programs, the seal of approval for series production was given as far in advance as a year before the testing program was formally completed.
But that might not happen with the T-50. Another industry specialist told AIN, “The T-50 was a priority program for [former UAC CEO Mikhail] Pogosian, but since he was replaced it seems to have fallen from the top of the VKS priority list. There may no longer be a big bureaucratic push to see this aircraft type rushed into production.”
Two possible reasons for this are that the next-generation fighter engine and an AESA radar for the T-50 are still not ready for series production and will have to be certified on the aircraft. At the moment the T-50 is fitted with the same Saturn 117S jet engine and NIIP-built N035 Irbis passive electronically scanning array that are part of the standard configuration for the Su-35.
Once off the production line and accepted into service, the first T-50 series-production aircraft would be delivered to the Russian Ministry of Defence’s 4th State Centre for Training of Aviation Personnel and Combat Testing at Lipetsk. At this stage the VKS pilots who have completed the State Joint Testing program would create a cadre of instructor pilots drawn from the combat units slated to be the first operators of the T-50.
The announcement regarding the T-50 program also stated that the VKS would take delivery of some 100 aircraft and helicopters. These will include more than 20 Sukhoi Su-30SM fighters, a number of overhauled and modernized Tupolev Tu-95 and Tu-160 bombers already in long-term VKS service and an unspecified number of new Mil Mi-28 and Kamov Ka-52 combat helicopters.
