We are getting Super MKI's which would enable it to match the Su-35 platform at least in terms of avionics. So,instead of going for Su-30+ models we are going for PAKFA. @p2prada can give more information regarding this.Question for Indian members. Does IAF need such an aircraft in the future? Or are they content that the Su 30 MKI can perform the same job?

We have Jags armed with Harpoons in the A&N Islands. Them with Super-30s with BrahMos are good enough.SU-34 would be more useful in a strategic role fitting Brahmos missile for antiship mission in Indian ocean, or targeting high value targets at best 2 squadrons assigned to the Strategic Forces Command .
Long endurance mission makes the SU-34 useful because of the two-side seated cockpits, however the SU-30 shares similar features. We have Jags armed with Harpoons in the A&N Islands. Them with Super-30s with BrahMos are good enough.
Do we need such longgggg range! If we do, then we should get the Tu-160 BlackJackLong endurance mission makes the SU-34 useful because of the two-side seated cockpits, however the SU-30 shares similar features.
It is important to highlight that SU-34 can fit more the role of medium strategic bomber while SU-30 remains tactical one.
SU-34 can make a return from India to South Africa with only 1 refuel something like TU-142
Russia not going to sell you the TU-160Do we need such longgggg range! If we do, then we should get the Tu-160 BlackJack
I am just woolgathering so chillRussia not going to sell you the TU-160
As to TU-22 India leased four but after that nothing materialised, in addition IAF is still a tactical force its still in transitional period to transform a strategic branch
With China and Pakistan just in the neighborhood of India the I doubt of you really need a nuclear strike aircraft that can be detected and tracked by Chinese surveillance systems once it takes off from Indian air bases (unless you get into an arrangment with US or some EU country for basing rights for IAF's nulcear strike aircraft, maybe you can convince France to do it in return for buying only French weapons). What India needs for nuclear deterrence are new gen nuclear tipped ballistic missiles and dedicated mobile launchers and nuclear armed strategic submarines that can hide anywhere in the World's oceans and wait for the lunch signal...SU 34 can be used for nuke strike, ok get 40+ fighter for this special role, SFC needs some fighter bombers.
our nuclear retaliation is with Nuclear triad, missile till A3 are already operational, A4 and A5 are in pipeline. Plus Shaurya and K15 are under production, ATV will be operational this year or early next year. Still we need long range bombers and SFC has already asked for 40 plus aircraft. Advantage of having aircraft is that strike can be call of at the very last movement. Operational means switching on the N-reactor, or actually test firing a missile from under the sea?our nuclear retaliation is with Nuclear triad, missile till A3 are already operational, A4 and A5 are in pipeline. Tu-160 BlackJack is good option but it is too big and very very costly, BTW love to have some of black jack.
From the same article:who needs new kind of Bombers ..we already have Bombers
http://defenceforumindia.com/forum/indian-air-force/50440-iaf-s-innovative-use-transporters-heavy-bombers.html
However, while IAF is keeping up with the practice, Air Marshal Goel believes that it would not be possible to use transport aircraft in today's hi-tech air defence environment.
How about having B2 bomber??? will US sell those bombers to us????Tu-160 BlackJack is good option but it is too big and very very costly, BTW love to have some of black jack.
