Gadeshi, do you have performance specifications on the Bars radar? The ones on the english sites are mostly wrong and appear sanitized for public consumption.

The same in my pocket. And it depends on modification. N-011M Bars and N-011MR Bars-R are very different radars

The only key differences in the Bars & Bars-R appear to be Russian processors for the Radar Computers in Bars-R and possibly different transmitters. Not too sure about the last too, since the final Bars version for India was certified in 2012 and may be a higher power one too..

N-011MR has 250km detection range upon some 200km for N-011M and insiders say that tracking range is 1.5 times longer. Bars-R has reduced weight (modern components - transmitters, power relays and computing blocks) and almost 2 times higher power efficiency rate.

Thanks Gadeshi, for what size targets though? The tracking range is usually 60-80% of detection range so that range should increase by 25 percent too.. unless they mean missile guidance transmitter is more powerful.

Yeah, these are for export versions, there are no info about Bars-R russian internal version except for insiders info.

@gadeshi , whats the basic difference in between Su-30MK and Su-30SM? I got that MK is the export version and SM is for local user. But is these two differ technologically too?

Thanks Gadeshi. Very interesting info. The tracking range probably refers to STT mode for SARH lock eg R27 type missiles but can presumably be used to cue R-33/RVV-BD type missiles. A 25% increase in detection range is a credible improvement. I assume its for the standard 3sq mtr reference RCS NIIP uses. So Bars would be 200km which is pretty good too. Are all your sources Russian? Any links would be great.
