Will we ever have a non comical president ...:scared2:

Why President-ship is an alternative for old age home?
APJ was great, atleast one could look up to him. PP was made the President just to earn brownie points, her being a woman and all.

Kalam was an able man. But im still wondering why they take these oldies for the first citizen post.

Average life expecency in India is around 64.

Retirement age is around 55-60.

Now take the age's of the presidents @ office.

All ages in the last year@ office

Prathibha- 77
Kalam- 76
KR NARAYAN-82
Shankar Dayal Sharma- 79
R Venkataraman - 82
Giani Zail Singh- 71
Neelam Sanjiva Reddy - 70

etc etc.

Well WTF ....:taunt1:

Minimum age required is 35 as per constitution.. but we make sure we have it doubled.

The news telecasts of shankar dayal sharma moving like zombie among the world leaders are still fresh in my mind.

It made me wonder whether India wants to showcase it Presidents as disabled/ prehistoric ones who cant move.

Maybe thats the reason why the last 2 presidents want to try out in military vehicles like Tanks and Sukhoi's.

@spark that is because we dont want them to power to go over their head, when they started to taste the power by that time either they either complete their tenure or they they depart from this world.

That is why we chose a Elderly statesman as first of all of us.

Well, maybe not Obama - but do you know John F Kennedy was a World War -2 hero? Check it out and tell me which Indian President/ PM had a record even remotely like that?

George Bush Senior was a veteran of the US Navy.

John Kerry was a war hero too (irrespective of what the dirty swiftboaters might say).

i personally hate her.. she hasn't done 1 single thing for the country.. and she is the president of India... :frusty:

all she wants to do is sail on aircraft carrier, fly on su30mki jets, ride on tanks, fire automatic weapons and spend her productive time doing nothing. somebody needs to tell her that million dollar equipments are not dildos or toys.

But you see there is an improvement...our last 2 prez can walk properly and much fitter ...we all know Shankar Dayal Sharma ji

So new Prez's can ride a tank or fly on a plane or climb a tree/electric pole or hang from a cable or tree branch etc etc and can embarass even monkies........ which most of the Prez around the world can't do it... what more can you ask for a post which is just turned into a symbolic head of the state and utilized for ribbon cutting ceremonies at cultural events locally and internationally and school functions.

Ahhh - Supreme Commander? Who's that? Mrs Patil?

By the way, that "controlled landing" was awesome - I always thought snipers were interested more in moving slowly and hiding well.

"Sudarshan Shakti" aims to transform armed forces

BARMER (RAJASTHAN), December 6, 2011

Pratibha witnesses one of the largest military exercises in recent times

President Pratibha Patil, Supreme Commander of the armed forces, on Monday witnessed one of the largest military exercises in recent times — "Sudarshan Shakti" — aimed at starting the transformation of the forces into a modern, lean, and agile fighting combination capable of leveraging new-age technologies.

The exercise, in the deserts near Barmer in Rajasthan, helmed by the Southern Army Command and the South Western Air Command, led by formations under the Bhopal-based 21 Corps, a strike Corps also known by the name Sudarshan Chakra Corps, looks to build synergy between the Army and the Air Force in a network-centric environment to help face challenges of the 21st Century – including having to fight in an environment dominated by the threat from nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons.

Donning military fatigues, Ms. Patil arrived on a T-90 battle tank much to the astonishment of onlookers, accompanied by Defence Minister A.K. Antony and Army Chief General V.K. Singh, hailed the exercises as a "landmark that would enhance our combat preparedness" and help the forces ward off threats to national security in the face of "multi-dimensional" challenges. "We need to accordingly equip ourselves with state-of-the-art weapons, and hone our skills through relentless training to deliver the required response to our adversaries, when the need arises," she said.

"Sudarshan Shakti" is the outcome of a study undertaken by the Army on how to initiate transformation and maintain continuous offensive capabilities with a networked headquarters supported by intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance acting as the nerve-centre of operations. The improvements in weaponry had also given an added impetus to revising existing military doctrines.

Southern Army Commander Lt. Gen. A.K. Singh said the exercise should not be seen as a response to exercises conducted by "any neighbouring" country. "The transformation of the Army was a study undertaken by us on how to initiate the process of taking it into the 21{+s}{+t} Century. Following the transformation study, we are now in the test-bedding stage, of which "Sudarshan Shakti" is a part. At the end of various test-bed stages, we will submit a report on how the transformation should be taken up," Lt. Gen. Singh said. However, no timeframe to achieve the "transformation" had been set, Lt. Gen. Singh added.

Among the manoeuvres that the 21 Corps showcased before the President were airdropping of Special Mission teams within "enemy lines" on Dhruv helicopters, artillery fire to "degrade" the enemy before actual physical combat from an array of artillery guns and rocket launchers, an onslaught by the menacing Mi-35 Akbar assault helicopters, with the mechanised assault culminating with two squadrons of T-90 Bheeshma battle tanks running roughshod over the "imaginary" enemy.
