Two sides have their own reason to occupy south china sea islands,of which the main reason is money brought by oil。in 1958,yietnam primer conceded these islands belong to china, but now, after some years extracting oil yietnam has gain much dollar,so they search reason to hold the region, Because of which, china has gived battle to yietnam for two times in this region and regain some islands。Of course, yietnam is no match for china and they will be defeated, but they want get more interest before china becoming a complete strong country。

I am sure that Vietnam did not "concede" these islands to China in 1958. Back then Vietnam was under French rule, and France would NEVER have given up any of those islands - like hell. The French started the first Vietnam war so as not to leave Vietnam!
As for your name and reasons for supporting China - your english, Mr "englishwind" sounds too mainland Chinese to me. Where are you from? Beijing? Shanghai?
