ISI suffers setback on Indo-Nepal border

TNN, Mar 15, 2010, 11.11pm IST

BAHRAICH: Pakistani intelligence agency, ISI, is now in search of agents after several of its men have been killed. The ISI reportedly received a setback after the murder of three of its agents and the arrest of others running the counterfeit Indian currency (CFIC) racket during the last five months.

The ISI has joined hands with Nepalese Maoists to smuggle CFIC, drugs, arms and ammunition into India, hoping that the Indian government would not take action against the latter. If the Nepalese government, on the other hand, took action against the Maoists under pressure of India, it may sour relations between the two nations. ISI bosses in Pakistan know that the Maoists enjoy good relations on the Indo-Nepal border and wish to take advantage of the situation.

According to Indian intelligence agencies, the supply of CFIC into India has been down by 25 per cent after the murder of Jameem Shah last month. Majid Manihar, Parvez Tada and Jameem Shah have been killed while Yusuf Ansari and Vikki Manihar have been arrested. After the murder of Majid and Parvez, Jamiee Shah has taken over the charge of running the CFIC racket. He was also murdered in Kathmandu on February 7, 2010.
