India is fit case to be declared a banana republic,we shouldn't be calling ourselves a republic if we cant gather ourselves to look beyond the principle of divine right to rule.Ideological moorings as the basis of political expression is at best of times atrocious in most indian political parties, congress lead the pack.Even the BJP and left parties cannot be said to have unflinching commitment to long standing ideology anymore, though they haven't reached the nadir as yet.

I read this in Frederick Forsyth's epic novel "Fist of God". According to the book there's an old Arab saying which goes something like "I and my brother against my cousin, I and my cousin against the tribe and I and my tribe against the world". In these days where loyalty is far more elusive than a snowball in Indian summer, it's not surprising that politicos have fallen back upon the maxim "Blood is thicker than water". Lest they forget, Indian history is replete with the cocky and mighty being felled by their own blood.

BJP and leftist parties are the only ones free of dynastic virus. All others have dynastic tendencies.
