President of Russian North Caucasian Republic of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov lit up a cauldron of the Olympic Flame at stadium Akhmat-Arena in Chechnya's capital, Grozny. The Chechen president became the final Olympic torchbearer, taking the Olympic torch from famous blind-born Russian singer Diana Gurtskaya.

Indian skiers off to Russia to take part in Olympics without national flag - The Times of India

Three skiers and a luger from India had qualified for Olympics in Turkey in December 2013. Hira Lal, an alpine skier from Himachal, is not participating due to some technical reasons. Another alpine skier from Himachal, Himanshu Thakur, has his race on February 19. Jammu and Kashmir's 30-year-old cross country skier Nadeem Iqbal from Indian Army has his race on February 14. Both the skiers, along with three coaches, will board their flight from Delhi to Russia on Tuesday early morning.

The third athlete, Shiva Keshavan, the only luger from the country, is already undergoing pre-Olympic training with American team in Russia. This is Keshavan's fifth Olympics. He holds Asian speed record at 134.3 km/hr and had set Asian track record at 49.590 seconds in Asia Cup Japan in 2012.
