Is it because of the Tommy guns that the British privates were called 'Tommies' during WWII?

In India, Mostly the Minsters gunmen use them. I see them all the time.

They are actually light weight compare to other!!

In my time, it was a standard issue and I presume it still is.

Excepting for 'cooking off', it is a great weapon and it has never failed me!
