Indo-China joint training exercise Hand in Hand – 2013, progressively moved on to the next phase wherein Special Heilbrone Operations were rehearsed today by mixed companies of the two nations participating in the exercise.

During the day the the two contingents familiarised and learned from each others drills on Special Heliborne Operations. The practice and rehearsals on slithering were initially carried out from a static platform. These were rehearsed and practiced with mutual understanding thereby refining their drills.

Having gained adequate expertise and proficiency, slithering was practised from two helicopters. The companies were divided into sticks (small teams) fully equipped to operate in counter terrorism enviornment. These special operations for this exercise purpose will be used for establishing outer cordon or house intervention during the live exercise on Cordon and Search Operations to be held in the later phases.

What bullshit is this?
If feel this is more of showcasing to Indian public by GOI that china & India are bhai bhai & India do not have any issues with chinese.

Will chinese not copy/learn our maneuvers & tactics.

This is nothing more than a photo-op.

Check the equipment worn by the troops, and compare it to the ones when they face off with the Americans or the Brits or the Russians. IMO India has brought the B-team to this exercise, with the sole objective of hiding the true capabilities.....

PS: The B-team refers to the equipment only, not to the troops.

Why should we do a joint exercise with chinese who are blocking India progress in every way be it border intrusion, supporting pakistan etc....

Indian soldiers from 16 Sikh Light Infantry firing along with PLA soldiers. Even a cursory looks highlights how much better the personal clothing and kit is of the PLA soldiers.

The PLA wears dual-tex camouflage, which is far superior to the Indian pattern. And take a look at the webbing... the Indian ammunition pouches are made of some non-camouflage material, while the Chinese webbing is matched with the dual-tex camouflage. So too are their helmets. Thank Heavens we sent Sikh soldiers otherwise our helmets would have provided another painful contrast.

And look at the personal weapon of the PLA. Foresight and rear sight protectors, a rail for additional kit, an inbuilt carrying handle and a far more robust magazine.

And as for the boots... the less said the better!

Why are we not concentrating on the Out fitting?? Does DRDO has some facility that looks into the armed forces requirement for Clothing, Camoflage, boots, winter clothing, fire froof clothing etc etc???

actually if we are careful we can observe them

it seems we might have more to benefit by simply observing their better personal equipment
it might be a good idea - as long as we dont delude ourselves into any bhai-bhai fairytales
the company level soldiers and commanders get to see how far they are ahead of us

and insist to higher levels for at least parity
