Should India intervene in Mali in support of French forces?

Hey all,
I was wondering whether India should send some aircraft to Mali in support of French forces. It would increase our standing in the international community and would also help our relations with the French. Considering the no of investments our companies have in Africa, wouldn't it be worthwhile to send a message to African nations in particular and to the world as a whole that India will be tough on terrorism?

It will also provide a good learning experience for the force on anti insurgency and small scale ground support roles.

Imho no if french are already there .India should tackle terror by itself not by supporting someone.Only when india acts first they will increase the standing in the international community.I beleive first movers advantage works here when target is small

Well i agree that India should go it alone, but isn't supporting the French better than sitting and doing nothing

We have to be first tough on Naxalites , we are tough on islam terrorist in kashmir hence we have suituation under control now

we should not act like USA making show off , first we should solve all our internal insurgency issues then may be take on international terrorism

May be executing Dawood & hafiz saeed covertly would be much better then messing in MALI :thumb:

Not worth it. Getting involved in an unnecessary campaign against Islamists will only complicate things. India cannot pursue meaningful geopolitical objectives (as opposed to superficial ones) without first building a strong economy and making considerable headway toward becoming a middle income country. And this means getting its own house in order first through various reforms which is bound to be a gargantuan task.

Dont think so they were colonized by french and speak french so Imo even if we support we woulnt be penetrating into diplomacy into mali much which will efect their relations with france

We've got Mali covered. It would be too much work to integrate our forces on the fly. It isn't as easy telling African forces what to do. India would want joint command making decisions harder. She has all the counter-insurgency experience you could ask for in your own borders.
